How often do we listen to the rain, watching the drops dance on the pavement, hanging like crystals from the leaves?

Often through our day, we may see our reflections. How often do we take an internal survey of what we think, how we feel and why?

Our outer and inner senses offer so much to consider, if we take the time to be aware of what is beyond the surface.

My husband writes with a similar thought pattern, so several of his writings have been included. It is a wonder gift to have someone to share life, heart and mind with.

Beyond the Moment

When you look up in the sky

Do you notice the range of colors

The formations of the clouds

Birds as they flutter or soar on high

When you come to a stream

Do you notice how it sparkles in the sun

Hear the laughter in its flow

Or do you pass by in a dream

When you stop to eat a meal

Do you notice the aroma or colors

Do you appreciate the textures

Or do you chow down, no big deal

When you see a stranger’s face

Do you wonder their path in life

Is there joy or pain in their eyes

Or are you going at too fast a pace

In this life, there is so much more

If we turn off our noise and gadgets

Really see, listen and feel

There is another world beyond the door

Viewed and measured by telescopes in space

Comets, quasars, gaseous nebula

Black holes, novas, planets and moons

All in their appointed place

Varieties of life beyond our measure

Not just one animal, gemstone, bloom

All for us to enjoy together in peace

Rainbow waterfalls, blazing sunsets, our treasure

Only seen under a powerful microscope

The DNA that makes us who we are

Snipped and combined at man’s will

Creating life that may not cope

The desire to be in control of it all

Our minds, too limited to understand

All of God’s marvelous creation
