About this ebook

"Start Where You Are", was written with the intent to help people realize their starting point when it comes to their success. Most people fail because they started in the wrong place, which could be with the wrong mindset, in the wrong environment and with the wrong people. No one starts their success journey in the same place. We are only created equal because we all got here the same way. Life gives everyone of us different starting points. Some have more talent and others have better teachers. If we learn to start where we are, we will have a better understanding of the steps we need to take based on our own attributes and not the attributes of others, especially those we see on TV or social media. Your success journey needs to have a more realistic approach. No matter the path, the road to success will share some similarities along the way because there are laws that can't be changed.

    Foreword

First, the title of this book, Start Where You Are seemed too basic for me. Well, of course, right? Where else would I start? But as I read this book, it became very clear to me that most people try to start from a different place, which obviously doesn’t work. These are the kinds of practical revelations that’s Rico’s book is full of.

I am a 61-year-old person, and I have accomplished most of the things that people want in life, from material possessions and a great family to a healthy body and spiritual life. I started selling real estate in 1979 in the Republic of El Salvador. After having achieved some success, I was exhausted and frustrated for how primitive everything was. This led me to investing in my own RE/MAX franchise, which made me a pioneer developing this network in my country. After five years of great success as a franchisee, I was hired by the RE/MAX World Headquarters and became the person in charge of developing the network throughout Latin America, where we now have over 10 thousand Agents.

I am, however, an entrepreneur at heart, not a corporate person so I went back to the trenches and, with my partner John Turley, purchased the rights of RE/MAX Caribbean and Central America. We have big dreams for this Region! We want to help thousands of people learn about entrepreneurship and develop successful businesses.

What is interesting is that I wish I had read this book when I was 20 years old, but at the same time, this book reenergized me at this
