INTRODUCTION
A S A YOUNG business owner at the age of twenty-five, I did not know where my life was heading and if I had made all the right decisions. I did not know if I wanted to be married or have a family. However, I had no question about a few things. I loved success, I loved being number 1, I loved the feeling of accomplishing something big, and I knew my ultimate goal was greatness. I find in my studies that most individuals on the earth are searching, and most don’t know what they are searching for. There’s a void, and most people are searching daily to fill it. Most people attempt to fill this void with the wrong things, temporary things, and temporary fixes. These temporary fillers can range from relationships to jobs, friendships, alcohol, and drugs, and the list goes on. We feel a need to subscribe to the rules of society. We have a tendency to subscribe to the thoughts of others and the lives of others instead of focusing on our own purpose and our own betterment.
What’s right for Sally must be right for me because she appears to be happy, right? I’m not going to be my pure self because my parents don’t approve. I’m not going to marry him/her because they don’t fit in the picture that I want others to see me as.
From the day I was born, I always did what I wanted first. Of course, I didn’t do anything to cause harm to others or with the intent of malice, but I did the things that made me happy.
When doing the things that make us happy, of course, there are times we make bad decisions. We make bad decisions in search of things and feelings that are temporary. However, I always knew, and kept in mind, that no matter how young or at what point in my life I was at, any decision could change my life forever. That one decision could change my life for good or bad. However, I knew the decision-making process was the most important part.
Early on in life, I knew there were risks that needed to be taken. I knew that certain sacrifices had to be made in order for my life to work out the way I envisioned it, not only the way that I envisioned it but also the way that would lead me to my true life purpose, passions, and true happiness. I learned that I couldn’t settle for the laws of society and the frivolous thoughts of others. I learned that for every risk I took and every good decision I made, I was rewarded. By the time I got to college, I realized that in order for me to be anything to anyone else, I had to make sure my self-happiness and self-goals we’re all accomplished. In order for me to be a great wife, a great mother, a great friend, and a great person in society, I realized the most important thing: making sure in my true hearts of hearts that I am accomplished, I feel self-sufficient, and I am healthy in mind, body, and soul. With that, I structured my future around my passions. I realized that I couldn’t be the best me if my cup is half full. I realized I would always be searching, trying to fill a void, and trying to fill my cup up.
We must make sure our cup is overflowing so that we can then move on to helping others and being the best that we can be.
Understanding that my self-happiness, without self-harm, is the most important thing to my life, my future, and my passion.
I decided to make very strategic decisions. I decided to make the necessary sacrifices to structure my life based on my thoughts and my goals, not that of the world. Now I am living my complete dreams daily, and my goal is to help you do the same. I have read plenty of books that tell you how to make money or how to start a business. I’ve also read several self-help books that tell you how to find yourself and your passion. However, none of the books stated clearly, Don’t start a business until you are in a great place in your life, you are happy, and you are passionate about the business. This is a sure way to success. Success defined by you, not success defined by society.
This is the reason why I wrote this book.
After reaching my self-defined levels of success, some including being Entrepreneur of the Year, gracing the cover of the Atlanta Business Journal, being partnered with major mass retailers before the age of thirty, and currently being a winner of the largest business competition in the world, many people came to me and said, I have the idea. I just don’t know where to start.
Many expect me to say, OK, make your product, then do this, that, and the other.
No, that is not my first thought. My response to the question is, Why do you want to open this business?
The reason I ask this first is because I understand the work, dedication, and sacrifice it takes to be successful in business. I understand that you need to have a sound mind, sound faith, and a sound support system. In this book, you will find a green print that will get you to this point. I know you are a person of greatness and sound mind already because you have purchased this book. Once you complete this book, I assure you, you will be well on your way to complete happiness, you should know your clear self, and you will be ready to make millions, if that’s your goal.
This is the point where you get excited! You will learn in this book how to become the best you—step by step, thought by thought. I have made most of the mistakes for you, and I lay them out in this book. Are you ready for greatness, happiness, and wealth?
Welcome to
The Green Print
Ready, set, go!
I was a leader from the day I was born; and with that noted, I knew I had to lead my own team into my own wealth. It was very easy to me. I put my faith in God, quit my job, and opened my own company.
—Davielle Jackson, founder and president of Femi Secrets, Atlanta Business Journal cover story Spring Edition, 2016
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
—Proverbs 3:5–6
Always follow your gut, not your heart. They are two very different things. And most importantly, stay true to yourself and your path, because it will take you exactly where you need to be.
—Davielle Jackson
CHAPTER 1
Who Am I?
H I, MY NAME is Davielle Jackson. I am the owner of several businesses. I’m from Marksville, Louisiana. I have three sisters, and my specialty is making money and building businesses.
Humm . . . doesn’t that sound real nice? Now that’s exactly what I’m not talking about. When I ask the question Who are you?
, I mean in your core. What are your beliefs? What is it that makes you tick? What is it that wakes you up in the morning? What is it that makes you you? The core of you describes things that have nothing to do with
