Hot Goblin Girls 6 - Paul Lucas

    CHAPTER 1

Urbli Froststone’s flute playing ground to an abrupt halt. He lowered the small instrument and canted his head in annoyance. What? Running toward me? he asked the empty forest air. What do you mean, she’s cute for a goblin?

A heartbeat later, a small green-skinned woman burst out of the underbrush, stumbling to a halt as she spotted him a dozen feet away. She was short, even more so than a Dwarf like himself, reaching a few inches shy of four feet tall. Her dusty jade skin was dappled with runic tattoos of gold spiraling over her body. The pate between her pointed ears was bald, save for a single dark green forelock and a long thin braid falling over one shoulder from the back. Her clothing consisted of a tattered sarong and a threadbare vest.

Her chest heaved for breath as her hand drifted up to the falchion sword strapped over her back. She took a moment to look him over, noting the startled look on his ruddy face, the slight paunch below his chest, and the fishing pole languidly propped up by his booted feet over a lazy creek. Her hand dropped from the weapon, recognizing him as no threat.

Yet in the next heartbeat, she rushed up and smacked him hard on his ginger-haired head. Run, idiot!

Urbli awkwardly jumped to his feet, confused and outraged as he shoved his wooden flute away in his shirt. The unseen voices around him were also raising alarms, but he could barely make out what they were saying as they shouted over each other. The goblin, like every other person he’d ever met, were oblivious to them. W-what? he asked. Why...

He heard crashing and commotion from the direction the goblin had come from. She went this way! someone called.

Shit! The goblin dashed toward the far trees. Run! They’ll kill you!

From the woods burst a hand-count of humans carrying makeshift spears and clubs. They looked even more scraggy than the green-skinned intruder, sporting gaunt bodies with hollow eyes, wearing once-fine clothes made ragged by exposure and overuse. They too hesitated on seeing the Dwarf, unsure.

One look in their crazed, bloodshot eyes chilled Urbli’s spine to the marrow. Before he was even aware of it, he ran full speed after the green-skinned girl, the howls and cries of the humans right behind him.

Urbli guessed that the goblin was following the rocky game trail that lead further into the foothills, the same one he had used to hike out of town to get to his remote fishing spot. Dull tree trunks and bright conifers flashed by, as did the rocks and mud and underbrush that made up the firmament of the highland forest. He spotted a flash of green skin far up the trail. He redoubled his speed to try and catch up to her. She would hopefully have answers to what the hells was going on.

The mysterious female disappeared around a bend in the track. As soon as he took the turn himself he was grabbed from behind by the back of his collar and forcibly yanked into a thicket of thorn bushes.

He was about to yell out in pain at the dozen new scrapes when the goblin girl, looking as cut up as he was, put the point of her sword to his throat. He could feel the cold sharpness of the steel against the skin of his jugular. She scowled at him, finger over lips to urge him to stay quiet.

Just beyond the veil of leaves and thorns, the mob of humans thundered past, slowing down only slightly to take the turn in the trail. The goblin scowled at Urbli even harder as their footsteps faded, her angular ears twitching as she strained to catch every stray sound.

Finally, she removed the sword from his throat and resheathed it on her back. She peered out cautiously onto the path, then turned in the opposite direction and headed deeper into the underbrush.

    Urbli followed. What...

She spun and bopped the meat of her fist hard on his forehead. She growled in a harsh whisper, her words carrying the accent of lands south. Those assholes may be murderous fucks, but they can hear just fine. Be. Fucking. Quiet.

Snickers arose from the unseen voices around him. Some apparently found her quite amusing. The Dwarf sighed inwardly. Of course they would.

The goblin hadn’t bothered waiting for a reply, as she turned and wove her way through the thorny bristles. Urbli sighed and followed. It seemed like the best course of action for now, even if his thicker frame made the tight squeeze through the brambles even more prickly than before.

Besides, it wasn’t all bad. The tight squeeze forced them to crawl on hands and knees most of the way, and the goblin’s tattered sarong showed off a generous portion of her nicely-rounded rump. With that to focus on, it was easy enough for the flute player to keep up despite the nicks and scrapes.

The thicket ended and they emerged into a small grassy space next to a moss-encrusted rock outcropping. The goblin peered out at all sides, then stepped close to Urbli so he could hear her hushed voice. Those guys are cannibals.

He likewise lowered his voice. Like, from Linlea? I’d heard rumors...

Reality’s worse. The city’s destroyed. There’s no food. Refugees are desperate. I volunteered to scout this newest group’s camp, and the shit I saw... She grimaced and turned away. Don’t go back the way you came. There are hundreds of them by the main road. Head north a few days and you should avoid them.

    But Huskin, my village...

If it’s the one I spotted, they’ll be there already. You can’t help shit if you’re dead.

Before he could reply, they heard muffled shouts and the rustling of bushes in the distance. The sounds got slowly but steadily closer.

They found our trail! the goblin snarled, hand on her sword hilt. If I gut you, I bet they’ll come right to your squeals. I could get away.

W-wait! the Dwarf said, palms facing her, eyes darting about in desperation. He had left his only weapon, a skinning knife, behind with his fishing pole. Not that he was any kind of trained fighter, anyway. I’m being told… Er, I mean… I know a place where we can hide. It’s close.

She eyed him warily for a heartbeat. Her hand dropped from her weapon. Go! she quietly urged, gesturing for him to lead the way. But try any shit and I carve you for steaks!

    CHAPTER 2

The odd pair hastily made their way up and around the rim of the nearest rocky hill. Though their shorter legs made it harder for them to outrun the humans on open paths, their smaller stature also made it easier for them to thread through the thick sub-tropical underbrush. They occasionally heard their pursuers a ways off behind them, but were able to maintain their distance.

After nearly a half hour of climbing through brambles and ferns and tree roots, they stumbled out onto the remnants of an ancient road almost choked over by creeping vines. A hundred yards away stood a crumbling curtain wall with a carved stone gate that had long since fallen off its hinges. Beyond the outer fortification lay the ruins of stone houses and others buildings, many with collapsed roofs and ivy-choked foundations.

What is this place? the goblin asked.

Viggarum. It was a mining village, but it’s been abandoned since the mines ran dry a century and a half ago. The local kids sometimes play hide-and-seek here.

The sounds of pursuit grew louder. And now we’re going to play it for our lives.

They shuffled through ruined alleys and overgrown cobblestone streets as quickly as they dared, dodging through rubble piles and potholes. Urbli mumbled unintelligible words and nodded repeatedly, as if following instructions the wind whispered in his ear. Finally, the pair ducked into a large building that looked like it had once been a temple to some Dwarven pantheon, with statues and busts of ideally-realized diminutive men and women.

Urbli led the green-skinned female around rubble and tipped-over effigies. Finally, they turned the corner and he gestured up at a crumbling column leaning against the temple wall like a drunk. It’s up there. A small chimney alcove for ventilation.

I can’t see it, the goblin said.

It was built hidden, so it didn’t mess up the temple’s aesthetics.

It’ll have to do. Let’s go.

They scrambled over a pile of stone shards, then up the adjacent toppled column. As they got close, they saw a turn in the stone wall that blended seamlessly to the eye except when viewed from a certain elevated angle. Urbli had to admit it was very clever engineering, even for already-renowned Dwarf stone smiths.

Once twenty feet off the ground, they found the dark alcove and slipped in. The space was barely bigger than the two of them combined, and they had to climb over each other a bit to fully fit inside. Urbli did his best to keep his hands in neutral territory, but he occasionally had to brush against her rear to maneuver properly. Thankfully she didn’t raise a fuss.

It looked like the chimney had once led further into the temple before it turned up toward the roof, but the stone tunnel was choked over with collapsed debris and roots. For better or worse, they were stuck where they were.

Voices sounded at the entrance of the temple. Yes, I know they’re close, Urbli whispered to unseen voices. The goblin slapped a hand over his mouth as the humans drew noticeably louder.

    He MMF!-ed audibly through her
