Introduction

We live in a world with standards on beauty, status, success, and—the toughest of them all—love. Ask yourself this question when you feel the lowest: Why does society’s perception of these things matter more than my own? Yes, some things should be ordered by society but when it comes to the fulfillment of love and life, it should be damn near non-existent. We are taught that being vulnerable is a weakness. I am here to tell you that you no longer need to feel as if you are the only one struggling with coming into your own. When I say this, I’m referring to your purpose. Have you ever felt confused or lost with yourself? Often, I feel a lot of this with no sense of direction. And I believe everyone has felt a sense of uneasiness about choices they have made and the life they live. We all have experienced some sort of self-doubt based on the perception and opinions of others. I am here to tell you about my personal experiences with discovering my inner self, losing that inner self, and coming up short of self. Throughout this book, I will be referring to self as her.

Many of us were not taught self-care or self-love growing up. Throughout many generations it was unknown, but we are the generation that has come to change things from the norms that have been placed.

Keep pushing forward is the beauty of releasing yourself from generational curses. Break free from the idea of love and beauty that was profound among us and instead create our own idea of them. This book is to open your mind to a new perspective on the beauty of love within that can assist throughout your own journey. This is me bringing my light into your light. Toward the end of this reading, I included a few of my personal journal entries that have guided me throughout my process of discovering her. You will notice a journal entry from 2019 missing, that year I lived in the moment rather than reflecting my experiences on paper. I felt present as much as I could. And allowed the Most High to guide me. It was one of my best years yet. So many accomplishments had been fulfilled that year, both externally and internally.

My goal, once you get to the end of the book, is for you to be okay with being selfish with yourself. I will provide you with ways not to feel that heavy uncomfortableness in your heart after telling someone no
