About this ebook
I wrote this book in memory of society’s flaws as the twenty-first century began. I opposed the actions of the democratic system and felt that things should change within our own society. I had been incarcerated and found poetry to be an outlet of expression. What I began to write portrayed how I had seen in the judicial system and the rhe

I was born in South Carolina to Queenie and Donald Norwood. I was later adopted by my stepfather Jerome, whom I admired for his gift and talent in poetry. I began to write poetry at the age of nine after taking interest in the Holy Quran. I began acting and singing a few years before turning nine. Now I have produced my first book that I have long awaited for. I thank God for my lady Renee and my three daughters-Jessica, Nijah and Jaida. I thank my mother for her love and support my whole life through.

From The Past to the Present - Keith E. Huling
Inevitable Mean
Being misplaced out of contact
Completely misunderstood no open channel
No communication or no concern for people
Not even close relatives care to listen
Or even recognize my existence
I am a complete menace
Due to my outlook being conflicting
Uncommon realizing I am different
Unique discovering my likes and dislikes
Riding as the leader of the pack
I am essential and needed
I am confident and dominating
Due to my effort and irresistible will
I apply my skill and desire
My God-given breath of life
Mentality, spirit and daily activities
To show my eagerness and domination
And they are my personality changes and suggest
To others having the strength to stand
The storm and the life to face destruction
Looking at death as the status of a survivor
Holding my head up high
Is There a Bridge We Cross?
Is there a bridge we cross?
Ahead are many barricades
The hands of men defeating the cause
Trapping men’s beliefs and noble effort
To inspire and arouse humanity
Is there a bridge we cross?
The wrong committed by criminals
The suffering from the intake of poisons
And from the abuse of the human body
Is there a bridge we cross?
When we support our children and wives
Work to improve the standards in their lives
Teach them by examples how we correspond
With morals and principles
Is there a bridge we cross?
Improving the standards of living
Discovering the cures to illnesses
Remedies for major emergencies
Coverage for babies and families
As from stillness comes wind
So does goodness and life
Arise again
Chained Minds
The morning begins with the sound of birds
Feeling content but not lost in time
Locked in cells with the clock on the run
With sounds from prisoners very profound
Speaking radically out of their minds
Lost in their present condition that they cannot define
Walking in circles blind to the time
Thinking about nothing to elevate theirs minds
Lost between the cell and their existing identity
Truly deceived in disbelief listening to the words of the living beast
A system created to defeat your moral history and the man you are
Existing in this concentrated and consumed configuration
To create a confused mislead disfigured man
Unprepared for the struggle embedded in his head
By lies and self-denial he lives befouled
I am roiled up to educate and inform
About the chaos coming from within the system
For eyes to see and learn from the mistakes once left behind
To create a morning that arouses true soul
Unfolding the confusion to the rhythm of the mode
A circle unfolding deception by the evil that was told
The truth defeat lies that unfold
The Fear
The fear of everything coming to a cease
Everything stopping all at once
Looking at such little control that I have
Like the place I live and where I choose to live
The money I work for and the salary I make
Where my kids go to school and the friends they choose
I can go on but I may find something I may dislike
About this whole worn-down system that tries to water
Down more comrades to fuel its tanks
From the politicians in Washington till
