HOPE FOR MY CHILD
Our daughter suffered a health emergency in February 2021, resulting in a massive loss of oxygen in her tissues that brought on seizures and traumatic brain injury, limited speech and the need for 24-hour care.
We were advised in May 2022 that no further progress is to be expected. She continues to lose her memory. In her mind she thinks she’s fine and can still do everything she used to, but forgets from one moment to the next. The reality hit us on her 23rd birthday, of which she has no recollection, that we could be “losing” our child.
I feel overwhelmed by our devastating situation, trying to understand the sadness and grief I feel for all that she’s lost. It’s been unbelievably painful to watch her struggle every day. I can’t stop thinking how she must be feeling. But she’ll
