    About the Author

    Foreword

    Are you good at taking directions?

    I have encountered many crossroads, and I have experienced how difficult directions can be to follow; I have been detoured, blocked and have jumped over many hurdles on my way to my destination. There were times when I made it and times I had to revert to where I came from. Do you find it hard to follow directions? In life, directions can be frustrating to follow. I have come to the realization that directions can affect your process in four (4) ways:

    1. They can bring you safely to your destination;

    2. They can hinder you from arriving safely to your destination;

    3. They can slow you down during the process;

    4. They can cause you to arrive faster than predicted.

    Please understand that these four (4) vital factors are conditional, depending on how well you know and comprehend the route you are required to take. Many people can attest to the fact they have no sense of direction. For example, you can be asked to go south and end up going north; not only do you lack a sense of direction, but you are clueless as to where you are going.

    One day, I was travelling to 4 Credit Union Drive, North York. I journeyed to my destination with no clue as to where I was going or how I was going to arrive; I decided to use Map Quest on my phone. What if there was no map? What if my internet wasn’t working? What if my battery had died? Every second I was looking at my phone because I didn’t know exactly where I was going.

    I asked people along the way to help me reach my destination. The first person I asked released wrong directions. The second person I asked managed to assist me, but I ended up going the opposite route. I had to seek directions from a third person who directed me to the third bus that would take me to my destination. I got off at my stop to what looked like I was standing in the middle of nowhere.

    I started to ask persons about the name of the place and its location. No one could direct me correctly; no one knew where it was because no one was familiar with the name. Maybe I was pronouncing it wrong; I have no clue! To me, someone should have known, but it was not up to them to know, it was up to me to accumulate proper directions pertaining to my destination.

    The proper preparation was needed as well. Am I in the right place I angrily asked myself. I am sure up to this day I got off where the map told me to. I was irritated and annoyed. I walked back and forth like a crazy woman. You know what happened? I went home without accomplishing my un-planned tasks.

    I learned 4 things from this experience:

    1. Know and understand who and where you are;

    2. Plan your journey. (A vision without preparation is deadly);

    3. Do not take directions from every and anyone;

    4. Do not look back when faced with challenges.

    My Crossroads is a book that will prompt you to never give up on YOU. It will motivate you to use your past as your stepping stone to your future. This is a powerful tool for young people (and older alike), who have no sense of direction concerning their purpose in life. While reading you will realize that the author had a sense of direction, and a knowledge of God from childhood; she was persistent in becoming the woman she is today; she wasn’t going to settling for less than the best; she didn’t have a clear picture pertaining to what her purpose was, but she was determined to discover it and not give up because of life’s struggles and challenges. Most importantly, she was confident of who she was, where she came from and where she was going, which is very important if you are going to live a life with and on purpose.

    The author didn’t always have the right directions, but she had an idea as to where she desired to go. Her faith in the true and living God strengthened her throughout her worst moments and it shows us that once we too have faith in Him that He will sustain us as well. When you come to know God and believe His word, then your life will begin to have new
