    A More Perfect Union: What We the People Can Do to Protect Our Constitutional Liberties is a book by Ben Carson, MD, and his wife, Candy Carson. This book explores the intricacies of the Constitution in both its historical context and its application by the present United States government. By breaking down all of the concepts covered in the Constitution, US citizens can be better educated on the freedoms ensured by this document so that they can be more vigilant about attempts to infringe upon those freedoms.

    From the preamble to the twenty-seventh amendment, each word of the Constitution has been carefully chosen by the founding fathers and the public servants who followed with later amendments. The founding fathers began by examining the previous governing body that controlled the colonies that became the US as well as other foreign governments to create a Constitution that would protect the newly formed United States of America from the tyranny and injustices inflicted upon other nations in the past. Since then, this living document has evolved through amendments to account for the changing times, such as the abolishment of slavery as well as the beginning and end of Prohibition.
