Introduction
I predict future Happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
–Thomas Jefferson.
Pathway to Freedom presents a minimalistic approach to both ends.
With emphasis on self-education, Pathway to Freedom meets the needs of today’s hurry-scurry lifestyle.
If Democracy and Freedom is to survive, the citizens of the United States must better acquaint themselves with both principles and functions of Freedoms and government. Only through increased individual knowledge of the Constitution, Freedoms granted, and the appropriate methods of limiting an ever expanding government, can Democracy and Freedom of America survive.
More important than having an answer, is knowing
where to locate the answer.
Exploring the Constitution
Not intended as an in-depth, line-by-line study, but rather a guide, Pathway to Freedom introduces citizens to basic interpretative methods and understandings and of the Constitution of the United States.
Contrasting more than a century of controlled knowledge
through manipulative education, the Constitution presents less difficulty of understanding than educational communities and political power mongers would have you accept.
The naturalized citizenship program presents a prime example of the ease of understanding the Constitution and basic governmental functions. If an immigrant who speaks no English or given the opportunity can study the several courses, learn English, then pass the citizenship test in five years, certainly an interested citizen can accomplish as much.
Exploring the Constitution will prove easy for some, while difficult for those farther removed from classrooms. Once abandoned, study habits are difficult to re-establish, so try this simple approach:
1. Set aside at least hour each day for study;
2. Avoid interruptions; and, above all, relax and enjoy your enlightenments.
Armed with only three key ingredients, the average lay-person can study and understand as much as 70% of the Constitution in as little as three months. Mindset, education, and time will provide astonishing results.
Mindset: Paramount to mindset is the originality of the document. What the words actually present in meaning, as opposed to what one wishes to insert as interpretation.
One must consider the backgrounds, various educational levels, personal convictions, and political attitudes of not only the writers of the Constitution, but of the many state-level individuals who ratified the document. No political agenda is sanctioned, promoted, or served, by the Constitution, therefore, clearing the mind of all previous political influence is crucial to clear understandings of the document.
Essential to an objective mind is the recognition and acceptance of the purpose of the Constitution and the Democratic Republic of the United States. The Constitution is the foundational document of only one nation and one society. Multiple races, cultures, and religious faiths are considered and provided for, within the Constitution of the United States. Not the world, but One, Independent Nation, and its citizens.
If one can accept this mindset, the remainder is only a matter of perseverance.
Education: An eleventh grade high school education is sufficient. The most important aspect is a thorough knowledge of punctuation and sentence structure. With no writing aids available, it was common practice in the eighteenth century to write in multiple compound sentences. Thereby, considerably more commas, colons, and semi-colons were used than in modern literature. Many varying thoughts and subjects were interconnected through the use of commas, colons, and semi-colons. Extreme care must be taken in order to discern correctness. Too, while definitions remain unchanged, some words common to the era are no longer used.
Reading for knowledge: Most crucial of all, is the time spent reading and studying the Constitution. An entirely new dimension of reading-for-knowledge must be acquired.
The Constitution is a guideline, a successive extension of interactive, and interconnecting elements. No phrase, no subject, is without interactivity with one or more elements. Therefore, approach the Constitution with a minimum of four distinctive readings.
First reading: Relax and read lightly to let the mind assess the continuity. Do not try to make notes or remember specific topics.
Second reading: Relax but be more attentive to each of the separate elements while noting their inactive connections.
Third reading: Begin to take notes on topics of individual interests, stopping when a similar topic is found. Note and assess the connections.
Fourth reading: It is here that you should begin the individual analysis of
