Bammel Middle School May 20, 2003
With only a week left in the school year Rico was excited and already thinking about next year, when he would become apart of the 7th grade football team. If only he could make it through the end of this school year without getting into anymore trouble was the plan. Rico’s mother had already warned him, letting him know she wasn’t going to tolerate anymore phone calls from his teachers nor principal. If Rico couldn’t control his behavior she would withdraw him from Bammel Middle School and transfer him to Wells Middle School. Trying his best to walk a straight line in Bammel Middle School was almost impossible for Rico. Especially if you had any kind of dealings with Madison Reed. A popular 6th grader whom Rico always had a crush on since elementary. Madison was beautiful and she knew it; with brown sugar skin and curly hair down her back she came with trouble. Being a 6th grader didn't stop Madison from giving all her attention to the 8th grader’s claiming to only be attracted to older guys. Rico had already gotten into two fights over her leaving his mother to feel as if Bammel Middle School wasn’t the school for her son. After telling his mother that a change would come, Dawn decide to trust her son and give him a chance to prove himself. For the past two months everything had been going well. Rico’s report card had showed all A’s and B’s for the second semester and Dawn had not received any calls from the school in a while causing her to believe that she could let her guards down.
May 30, on the last day of school Rico woke up to the sound of his alarm clock going off at 6:30 in the morning just as he did every other Monday through Friday. It took no time for Rico to get all dressed up hoping to leave the school year on a good note. While walking to the bus stop Rico met up with his friend Champ from school who also lived in the same apartment complex. What’s up Rico? What’s up bro, just ready to get this last day of school over with said Rico as he shook Champ hand. Yeah and I hear you going out with a bang. What you mean asked Rico with a confused look on his face? I heard you and J Boogie suppose to fight after school today. Word this my first time hearing this, what are we fighting over? Because I really don’t even know this cat he’s older than me? Well his brother told my brother that he was tired of you harassing his girl with all the phone calls and popping up at her locker at school. But Rico I’m confused because if that’s your girl then why is he calling her his girl? Rico just shook his head with no comment. No disrespect bro but Madison is out there let her move around so all this drama can die down. Appreciate the info bro I’m going to check into it.
Rico got on the bus and thought about what Champ had just put on his mind the entire ride to the school. After getting off the bus Rico came face to face with Madison as she walked straight pass him as if she didn’t even know him. Rico only blew it off as if she was just having a bad day. After getting through three class periods Rico was exhausted with the rumors of J Boogie and him facing off after school. He began to catch bad vibes feeling like something was about to go terribly wrong. He then tried to take the safe route by calling his mother to pick him up from school early but after four rings he was sent to the voicemail. After hearing the lunch bell ring Rico walked to the cafeteria with a funny feeling in his
