Robbie B and Mimmy’s Treasure - Diane D. Poczobut
What Readers Are Saying About Diane D. Poczobut’s first book, Robbie B
This story presents an unusual hero in the character of Robbie B., a gentle-hearted teenage boy who also happens to be autistic. When his friend goes missing, Robbie’s genuine concern prompts him to use his deductive skills to find out what happened. Especially suited for the young reader but to be enjoyed by all, the book presents a point of view that will not only entertain but offer insight into the unique challenges faced by Robbie B. Ms. Poczobut uses a mix of personal knowledge and writing skills to give us a look into Robbie’s world. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future!

Diane Poczobut writes a compelling story about how children and young adults should never be summed up by a medical diagnosis or an assumption. We see this every day in the world in which we live. Our greatest challenge is the way we view others. Mrs. Poczobut’s story of Robbie B is an excellent reminder of how capable ALL youth are. This story is an excellent teaching tool.

This book written by Diane Poczobut gives the reader insight into how a high functioning autistic adolescent boy thinks as he investigates the case of a kidnapping of his friend. His family, friends and Christian upbringing play an integral part in Robbie being able to persevere and solve the mystery. It is a wonderful read for young and old!

A great book for both parents and children to read. An intriguing story unfolds as the main character, Robbie B, tries to solve the mystery of his kidnapped friend. There is a clear message throughout the book illustrating how the strong bonds between friends & family, and an underlying faith in the teachings of the Bible can be applied and support those dealing with autism. I found this book to be an easy read and reminder that we all must be careful not to conjure up preconceived judgments about anyone.

I read Robbie B. written by Diane D Poczobut today. It’s a wonderful story of an adolescent autistic boy, his Christian family, and his friends. It’s balanced nicely with bible quotes that guide and shaped his character. It’s a wonderful wonderful read and I couldn’t put it down. Loved it.

I purchased Robbie B. recently online and enjoyed it very much. This book helps young people understand someone who is different by seeing life through the eyes of that other person. It is also great for vocabulary development and explanations of idioms. Overall, an excellent book!

Very well written book. It had many life lessons and insight on Christianity and how Robbie B uses his faith to help guide him to help his friend in need. The book is good for all ages and is an easy read.

Chapter 1
The Accident
Outside the McGuire house joyful laughter could be heard. Its sound carried through the open windows on a warm spring day. Robbie B and his mother, Rita, were in the kitchen baking cookies for Robbie’s high school bake sale.
Robbie!
his mother said trying to sound stern as a giggle escaped before she could cover her mouth with her hand. Stop eating the cookies. You’re eating the profits! We have to have some for the bake sale.
Robbie B stared at her with a confused look on his face. Profits?? These are cookies, Mom.
Yes, that’s true, but we are making the cookies for your school’s bake sale. The money people pay for the cookies are the ‘profits.’ That money will be used to help pay for your trip to Washington, D.C.
The ringing of the telephone stopped Rita McGuire from explaining any further.
Hello, yes, this is Rita McGuire.
… Yes, my mother is Charlotte Morgan.
… Is she all right?
Robbie B’s mother raised her voice as she asked. I’ll be right there,
she responded and quickly ended the conversation.
Robbie could tell that his mother was nervous as she talked louder and faster when she was nervous or upset.
Robbie B I have to go to the police station in Brenton to get Mimmy. Do you want to stay here or come with me?
Quickly Robbie answered, Of course, I’ll come. It is fun to go to the police station. Maybe we’ll see Maggie there.
Maggie, Robbie B’s sister, was a police officer.
