Kelly Family Chronicles Presents- Unlikely to Succeed - Kelly Le'Blood

    Prologue

Family has always been important to me and friends are considered even more of the same. At times you may fight with family and friends but at the end of the day who else do you really have? I have had my share of embarrassing moments and even some that I am proud of. The one true constant in all of those moments is family and friends.

I find myself wrestling with the eventual truth of knowing who to trust and who can I rely on when the going really gets tough. I have a best friend whom I been friends with for 18 years and 4 months and I wouldn’t trade him for the world. He would always say I may be a mule but you are the jackass. I pondered on that for some years because I really couldn’t understand for the life of me what he meant. In time it finally came to me he only meant that we were always going to be whom we were and that is what made us who we are.

    Chapter I

    Micah

Saturday started off as a beautiful day, the birds were chirping all day long and everything just seemed right. Suddenly around 11 o’clock seven shots rang out and there was a loud blood-curdling scream that I will never forget.

    Days earlier…

As school let out for the day, Mikayla and I meet up at our 2016 Dodge Chargers that we had just received for our birthday the prior weekend. I mean the cars were some of the best American made muscles you would see. I decided to have mine cocaine white while Mikayla wanted presidential black. Mikayla and I were best friends even though we were fraternal twins.

We did almost everything together. I was the star quarterback of the 2016 State Champion Giants of Green Oaks High School while Mikayla was the wiz kid cheerleader who all the boys had their eye on. Many of those suitors were some of my friends on the football team but none tried to pursue any relationship due to my unnerving attitude problem or lack thereof. I could be described as somewhat misunderstood.

As the fifteen-minute bell rang throughout the campus and the buses begin to pull off, Mikayla spotted a boy named Troy whom she saw earlier in the day. Troy was one of the new kids but he wasn’t unfamiliar with some of the people that went to the school. Troy transferred to the school after moving into the district once his dad lost his executive job at the local newspaper. This somewhat destroyed Troy because at his old school he was pretty much me, star athlete, model kid and a unique personality. Once I noticed that Troy starred at my sister for longer than what I thought was normal I had to make sure I called Troy out on it.

We locked eyes with every move we made we drew closer. In a flash, we both threw a couple of shots but none landed. It seemed as if it was really about to go down. Suddenly, Mr. King, the assistant principal showed up and broke up the scuffle between us. He made us follow him to his office where we would both be reprimanded. Fifteen minutes later Troy and I resurfaced from the office with looks of disgust. Once I got close to Mikayla defeat was in my eyes, We got detention. I stated. Mikayla looked confused and asked, "What the hell you looking so bummed about detention for, it should be a good thing that you didn’t get suspended. I looked up and spoke again it’s this Friday and you know our party is this Friday.

Mikayla and I were turning 16 and this was a chance for us to have a party that our parents were sparing no expense for. We already planned the party all the way down to our entrance music; we were going to make this the party to rival all parties. Mikayla grabbed me by the shoulders and said everything will be ok little bro, We just have to fight the music and see what comes of this, everything will be alright.

This Friday was Good Friday so the school would be closed and we had planned on spending the first half of the day prepping for the party with proper shopping trips to the local clothing store.

Once we made it home, our mother was at the table looking over the newspaper like it was the 90’s and she was looking for her third coupon for bleach. Once the door slammed behind us she raised her head and asked, How was school? I mumbled under my breath something she couldn’t make out but Mikayla impudently stated that school was great to cover up for the mistake she thought I was about to make. We ran upstairs to our respective rooms.

I knew that if our dad found out that I got in trouble at school he would punish me almost to the point where the party would be canceled. I hoped this wasn’t the case because it was not just my party it was our party and I truly looked up to my sister. Moments after I took off my shoes to sit comfortably on my plush queen size bed my phone rang and I got a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. I knew something wasn’t right.

Once I looked down at my phone, a sigh of relief came over me once I noticed it was my sister calling from her room. She spoke and stated the only way we are able to get this party to go off without a hitch is you have to lie to dad at least for the next two days to give us time to formulate a plan out of the detention. I ran over to my sisters’ room and asked what do you have in mind?

    Chapter II

    Mikayla

Look, Mikey, I want to have this party and so do you, I know you have a soft spot when it comes to confessing to wrong doings but do you understand the implications that go along with telling the truth about this matter. Not only will the party be canceled so will your little hookup, you think you going to do with Misty that night. Micah looked at me with bewilderment; you thought I didn’t know didn’t you. Word of advice lil bro girls tell their best friends everything. Misty was Micah’s crush since daycare, they use to sleep next to each other and hold hands on their mats. He had this cute childlike demeanor when he is around her and it just feels like he is stuck in a trance.

I then asked how do you think you can accomplish what you are trying to do when the whole house will be filled with almost sixty horned out teenagers who are trying to blow off steam in whatever way possible. As he sat and thought about what his plan of action was going to be, I was secretly trying to find out how to put my plans into motion as well.

What Micah didn’t know is Troy and I go back to last summer when I attended summer school as an aid to help with my college credits. Troy was at the school as well and we kind of hit it off, we would sit at lunch and talk about whatever came up and he just seemed like a very genuine guy whom I became very attracted too. It wasn’t until later I found out he had a girlfriend that he was constantly seeing off and on again. You know in high school it is rinse, wash and repeat. You could get caught up in a turbulent cycle of dating the same guy five times before you actually say it is over. It was a surprise that I ran into him at school this morning and to hear that he would be joining my school was truly a dream come true because now I feel like it is my turn on the merry go round.

As Micah finished wrapping up his thoughts I urged him to keep his mouth closed because we both had something to lose out on. As Micah got up and ran off into his room I laid down on my bed thinking of all the things and time Troy and I shared, I felt like this was a dream come true better yet I felt like a Disney princess waiting on the process to get my prince. As the thoughts of Troy and I continue to roll about in my head I got a text from Misty which startled me out my daze. The text read, Looking to relax NEED a getaway…

I quickly called my girl to find out the latest buzz in the Stone household. Misty had been my best friend as long as Micah had a crush on her. Although he never really spoke of it to her she just knew it and she would play hard to get as long as he didn’t step up to the plate.

    Chapter III

    Misty

As I got off the phone with Mikayla I heard a tap on my room door it was my baby brother who looked starved like he hadn’t eaten all day. Most people see me at school and think I have it made but that could not be so far from the truth. I am the only one who takes care of my other siblings. My mother is only home half the time and the time that she is here I have to still be the parent because she only sits
