The Invitations

Mr. Clark I’m one of the reasons that your production has tripled in numbers but yet you still don’t appreciate a good employer. Here at Richmond Inc we show our appreciation bi weekly when we deposit your check into that checking account. Really Mr. Clark now what are you going to do without me for ten days? I’m not going to even fake it, those ten days are going to be pure hell laughed Mr. Clark.

The question is what are you going to do with a two week vacation? I don’t know, I was hoping my husband and I could spend some quality time together but that plan was short lived when he left on a plane yesterday to Texas.

That’s what you get for marrying a banker. Right but hold on I have something else up my sleeve said Myra. Sister you always do. I was thinking about starting a bible study group, what you think about that? For two weeks honey people need the word every day of the week it’s a lot of hate in this world. It’ll last longer than that I’m pushing for two months with only seven or eight people. Okay so you want a small group, which sounds good now all you need is some people to invite. And don’t go inviting all those church hypocrites that are ready to judge you for any little thing you do. I have a couple ladies I want to invite from my church laugh Myra. Okay girl good luck with all that said Mr. Clark as he began to walk off. Hold up what about you Mr. Clark you would be perfect for this group? Do you really want Mr. Clark around a bunch of fine Sanctified Women? Nah but thanks for the listening ear see you when I get back.

After working a twelve hour shift Myra went home and prepared dinner for her daughters Sage and Khloe whom were eight and six years old. Myra tried to get a little family time in by letting the girls help her cook which was something they loved to do, she knew that later that night she would be busy. After getting the girls ready for bed Myra opened her laptop and began to make the invitations for her bible study group. On what day of the week is open for most parents and wives mumbled Myra to herself? Tuesday! And Tuesday it was Myra was feeling more and more excited about her idea while creating her invitations.

The Bible Study Group was the name printed on the invitations as they began to shoot out the printer. Myra printed twenty-five red and white invitations just in case she had a problem on getting people to show up she would have extra. Now all she needed to do was come up with a list of candidates. Ms. Louis from the church thought Myra, nah a little too nosy and judge mental. Teresa uhmm maybe or maybe not she’ll never have a babysitter and if she bring them over here those kids won’t let us read a verse out the bible. Paula Garza regular at church, Salena Jones comes to church every now and then but loves the Lord, Jody Johnson a workaholic all good candidates thought Myra to herself. Myra could only come up with three names and there was no guarantee that either one of the ladies would show. Matthew 7:1 do not judge, or you too will be judge.

Forgive me Lord, okay then everybody gets an invitation said Myra as she threw the invitations on the bed and went downstairs feeling a bit exhausted.

Saturday morning while on her way to the super market Myra spotted her next door neighbor doing yard work. Hey girl you got those flowers looking good over there but you going to freeze out here. Thank you laughed Paula as she gushed over her garden of flowers. Then Myra quickly pulled an invitation out her purse knowing that this was the perfect opportunity to invite her neighbor to her bible study group. Paula have you ever attended a bible study group asked Myra while easing through Paula’s yard? Maybe one or two in my lifetime; why you ask? Well I’m starting my first bible study group and I would love for you to be a part of it. Okay I mean it’s not like I have anything else to do all the old man wants to do is watch television. Great see you Tuesday night then said Myra before getting into her car feeling like she had one down and a few to go.

When Myra arrived at the grocery store she frowned up at the traffic that crowded the parking lot. After taking more than ten minutes to park, Myra was soon walking in the grocery store with her grocery list in one hand and hand bag in the other. Minutes later she heard someone shouting her name from a distance! Myra began to look around before spotting a familiar face walking up to her. Hey Ashley said Myra as her pupil began to open as if she had seen a ghost. Wow you look great you haven’t changed since the last time I seen you. Thank you said Myra. Well I don’t want to hold you up I was just speaking it feels good to see a familiar face around here. You live around here asked Myra? Yes on Dunville. Okay that’s not far from me; great area. Yeah I love it. Myra then began to dig in her purse for an invitation and it didn’t take her long to pull one out. If you’re not busy I would love to invite you to my bible study group on Tuesday night at 7:00pm. Okay said Ashley as she took the invite and stuck it in her purse without giving a confirmation on if she would be there or not. Good seeing you and I hope to see you there said Myra before walking off.

After making groceries Myra realized that she had only given out two invitations and her first bible study class was three days away. She knew it was time to open her black contact book and make a few phone calls while passing out the rest of the invitations on Sunday at church. In between making calls Myra received a call from her husband. Hey boo said Myra answering in a sexy tone. Why you playing and you know I’m thousands of miles away from you? Hey baby laughed Myra. I see somebody is excited to talk to me. I’m always happy to talk to my first true love. Miss you too: how are the girls? Active and eating up all the food baby we should have just had boys. Yeah right you and I would both be lost without those girls, tell them I love them. And I apologize that I can’t be there for your vacation break I know that you took those days off a long time ago. Yes I did but guess what? Here we go with the guessing game Myra what you up too now? I have a bible study group starting on Tuesday night. Really said Richard!

What you mean really I know the bible and have read it more than once? You know a lot of verses from the bible but you don’t know the book from front to back Myra. And that’s why I’m starting a bible study group because me, myself and I could learn a few things. You definitely could use a little more knowledge. Richard! Okay baby I’m just playing I think this is a great idea long as you stick to the topic and that’s the bible because when women come together you know how that can be. Yes I do but it’s all about the word and empowering women to come together. I love it but baby they’re calling me in the conference room; hopefully I make it home before three weeks love you.
