Life is an ocean of chaos and the realization that you must be the one who throws the buoy while struggling to stay afloat is devastating.

Single motherhood is a phase that is unique — but it comes with stress and trying to stay above the waters. It is essential to know how to deal with the stress involved and cope with being a single mother.
Dive in and find out about the various stress that a single mother encounters and how to cope with them. What better way to start than to be clear about who a single mother is?
A single mother is a woman who raises her child or children without a partner or husband.
There are various reasons why a woman might be left to raise her kids without the presence of a partner.
It ranges from factors like the death of a partner, abandonment of the men in their lives, divorce, and sometimes it might be the woman's choice to raise her child single-handedly.
When a single mother takes care of her child or children, it can be challenging as there are double responsibilities to be carried out.
The woman has to take care of her child and still take care of herself and her families. Just to be clear about the concept of single motherhood, let's look at the types of single mothers that we have and how they can be classified.
One of the various types of single mothers we have are those co-parenting with their child's father. And for this set of people, life seems a little bit easier since they get monetary aids, splitting time with the child by both parties and having someone to rely on even if it has its limitations.
For these sets of single mothers, they can, from time to time, depend on their child's father as he is willing to be a part of the child's life and wants to do his part. This set of single mothers are less stressed and have more positivity in raising their kids.
Another category is practically on their own as there is no assistance or help from the child's father. They work tirelessly to make ends meet for their child singlehandedly, and they are both father and mother to their child. They are usually choked with the responsibility of taking care of their child, but they forge ahead anyway.
Interestingly, another set of single mothers raise their kids without their partner's help but have families that are quite supportive. Ranging from her parents to siblings and even extended families involved in the child's welfare.
She is less stressed since she has her family as her backbone and is forever grateful for their presence.
