Tithes and Tithing: Biblical Perspectives volume two
()
About this ebook
This book scrutinized the practice of Tithing under the old covenant using the Lens of Scriptures. From the inauguration of the Church of Christ at Pentecost, the book discussed the evolution of the Church of Christ from under two covenants but one people in the Apostolic era to one covenant one people in this dispensation. It scrutinized the Mosaic Law and its application in the early church including the Gentile churches. Apostle Paul undoubtedly was a commissioned apostle to the Gentiles. His teachings and promotion of the gospel of liberty and grace under which every believer in Christ (including the Jews) was brought under as a consequence of the unveiling of faith and the finished work at Calvary was elaborately discussed. The practice of Tithes and Tithing in this dispensation was critically analyzed using the Lens of Scriptures. The verses in the book of Malachi usually quoted by proponents of Tithes and Tithing in this era was analyzed in bit and pieces using Scriptural evidence to reveal the futility of their interpretations. The practice of Tithing in this era was placed side by side with its practice under the old covenant in order to reveal inherent incongruences and controversies which its practice today had generated in the body of Christ. This book proved methodically using Scriptures that believers in Christ have been absolved from the obligation of Tithing having been brought by the sacrificial death and full redemptive work of Christ at Calvary into a new covenant of grace and liberty. The booked proved to ministers of the gospel of Christ that unlike the old covenant where priests of that time took Tithes of produce of those under the old covenant, the same cannot be applied to this dispensation of grace and liberty. Apostle Paul gave ample examples for them to follow. The new covenant made with the blood of Christ provided another platform under which they can appropriate on themselves their dues as ministers of Christ. This book proved unequivocally that believers of Christ in this era are not under any curse of the devourer for not paying Tithe as preached in many assemblies of believers in Christ. The threat of the devourer, the caterpillars, cankerworms and palmerworms are mere schemes which lovers of money than lovers of Christ are employing to bring back those redeemed by Jesus Christ under the yoke of bondage from which Christ set them free with His precious blood; never to be brought back again as exemplified by the three Greek words, "Agorazo", "Exagorazo" and "Lutroo" that explained Christ's Finished Work of Redemption. This book proved that the Abrahamic blessings of the redeemed in Christ was never predicated on the practice of Tithes and Tithing unlike the old covenant. For those believers in Christ today that think that testimonies shared by Tithe payers are proofs that believers in Christ are obligated to pay Tithe, this book provided ample evidence to the contrary. Israel as a nation paid a heavy price on account of relentless and reckless idolatry. This book brought to the consciousness of believers in Christ, a modern equivalent of idolatry which carries no less penalty than the idolatry of the days of antiquity. Cautions were sounded at appropriate places in this book for those that care to listen. Finally this book proved unequivocally from Scriptures that grace and liberty cannot coexist with bondage for those that think that they can benefit from "juicy" ordinances of the old covenant by its practice or enforcement and at the same time appropriate on themselves the blessings of the new covenant. Simply put, 'you can be in bondage and at the same time be free.' The book called for introspection and appraisal of our ways of worship in this dispensation in order to avert the wrath of God on disobedient souls.
