About this ebook
It says in "Psalm 25: Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. 5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day." This Scripture should be our heart's cry. Our heart's desire. Our yearning and longing. Yes, how we must yearn to pursue God, His ways, to know His path and His truth! For then we shall be triumphant in the glory of God. We need to seek a life in the Spirit, for the Church as we know it is on the threshing floor. We need to choose now to be the light, and choose to love and choose God's will above all else in the pursuit of His majesty.

A time of falling away
More than ever there is a choice to be made – either we are living for God or we will remain enslaved to a cruel world. We are called by Jesus to walk the narrow road, to deny the Self, to take up the Cross and to love the Lord above all. It says in Matthew 7:13-14: [The Narrow and Wide Gates ] "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Take note that the road of the Lord leads to life. He is after all the Way. There is no other way to life. Not the way of money. Not the way of status or power. It is the way of the cross. It says in Mark 8:34: [The Way of the Cross]: Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said:
Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me."
So what is the strategy of the devil (consider that he is quite unoriginal)? The devil wants the exact opposite to happen as commanded by the Lord – he wants us to walk the wide road, exalt the Self, to throw down the Cross and deny the Lord.
Sadly, we see the devil's strategy in full operation throughout the world and yes, even in churches. We can understand the world will continue to reject the Lord and His ways, but when we see it happening in churches then you know we are truly in the days of the great falling away.
After all, when we are no longer preaching sin or iniquity, we ultimately take away the need for redemption by the Blood, thus we cast down the cross. We cast down the cross when we deny we need a Saviour and a Master when we become our gods (New Age teaching) and we wish to become masters of our fate.
In churches, there is a whole lot of pride and self-glorification taking place as man continues to build his kingdom of splendour, yet failing to build the Kingdom of God. This also happened in the days of the prophet Haggai when man's glory took priority over God's House. Remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 6 (a forgotten Scripture it seems): And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
The Lord is in Matthew 5 calling for humility and an end to self-exaltation. Yet everywhere you look, pastors, ministers and church leaders are exalting themselves by going very public on all kinds of platforms to show the world what they are doing and how wonderful it is what they are doing and how great they are
. One may argue such blatant public exaltation is to the glory of God. Let us just be honest. Most of the time it is the exaltation of the Self. Let us just admit it - churches are filled with pride, egos and the love for the Self. The Lord must increase in us, not the Self. The disciples in the days of Acts walked in the glory of the Lord for they denied the Self and only sought to glorify Jesus. Is this happening? Why then is there such a craze over titles, over how big a congregation is and why is there such a big move to build reputations?
After all, it is not what man thinks of us, but what God thinks of us. It is all about speaking the Lord's Truth for the power lies in the Blood. There is no freedom in our truth, but only in the Truth of Jesus.
Remember the words of Jesus when He said in Matthew 10:33:
But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.
How do we betray Jesus? There are indeed many ways, such as not feeding the hungry, taking care of the poor but ultimately we betray Jesus when we betray the Truth, for Jesus is the Truth. We betray the Truth when we fail to walk in His Truth when we fail to speak His Truth and to stand on His Truth.
For it says in 2 Peter 2: False Teachers and Their Destruction: 2 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. 3 In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
And also 2 Timothy 4: 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
Ultimately, the Church is facing a crossroads. We need to choose - either we are going to walk with God, thus the narrow path that leads to life, or the path of the world that is mastered by the devil. There is no third path. For it says in Matthew 6: 24 "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
We all have a choice to make in life. It is a choice about which master we will choose. In the end, we will all serve someone. It will either be the Lord or the devil. There are ultimately only these two choices. Even if we claim to be agnostic or atheist you still choose the devil for then you deny the Sovereignty and the Majesty of Christ.
The strategy of the devil remains simple, yet daily people fall for it, and daily some believers fall into his trap. We need to deny the Self, turn away from evil, turn away from Egypt and seek the Way of the Lord lest we are overpowered by destruction.
2 Timothy 3: But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. 6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.
It is time to choose, for the shaking of the Lord comes.
THE CHURCH IS ON THE THRESHING FLOOR (PART 1) – THE ABSENCE OF LIGHT, LOVE AND LIFE
We live in a time of darkness, hate, death, falseness, poverty, famine and plague. Across the world, there is evidence of war, conflict, murder, violence and the abuse of people.
There are many reasons for such upheaval, yet the Lord reminds us that darkness only exists when light does not shine. Therefore, darkness is the absence of light. Hate is the absence of love. Cold comes when there is an absence of warmth. Death reigns where there is no life. In the end, darkness, death, coldness and hate cannot exist when the better half exists.
For when light shines there is no place for darkness. Darkness will always flee when the light comes, just as when the sun rises in the morning. When love is present there is no room for hate and anger.
For those who live in Africa, we call the continent dark and cold, and full of death (famine, plague, war and starvation). We shake our heads at all the violence, mutilations, extortions, conflict and misery. This is, however, also the case across the world where conflict on all levels is escalating – be it in homes, at the borders or at foreign level. We live in a world of oppression, depression, suppression and demonic possession.
But says the Lord, is the global crisis, also seen in Africa, not because there is no real light shining in the continent, no holy fires burning, no love showed, and no life declared and manifested? Are Africa and the world not suffering because the world has given the right to the serpent to steal, destroy and kill? And such right comes with sin, idolatry, rebellion and spiritual apostasy.
But if love and light must shine to drive back the darkness, where does this come from to drive back death and darkness? Is it not Jesus (John 8:12)? Is He not the Truth (John 14:6) that counters all the false prophecies, witchcraft and political agendas that have deceived and destroyed? And who has the Lord appointed to be the light and salt to a dying world? Is it not the church? Matthew 5: 13 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. 14
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
So if there is darkness, death, deception and destruction, not only in Africa but across the entire world, is it not because the church is absent in shining the light of Jesus? For surely cries the Lord, if the church was walking in God’s glory and power and authority, fulfilling the great commission, then Africa and the world will be filled with God’s glory that brings life, peace, hope!
Are Africa and the world not lying in ruin, torn apart by greed and lust and pain, for the voice of the church has grown silent and the heart of the church cold and full of idolatry? For surely we cannot blame the world for being shrouded in darkness, for the world knows not God, but surely where is the Church that is supposed to walk with God and to lead the broken and the lost the throne of grace and love? If there is an absence of love, light, love and hope, is it not because the Church is absent in showing the world the true way?
But why is the Church not showing the world the way to Jesus? Is it not says the Lord because the Church in itself is shrouded in darkness and walking in death because of sin, idolatry and rebellion. Is it not because the Church has forsaken the glory of the Lord for the empty desires and promises of this Lord?
Romans 1: God’s Wrath Against Sinful Humanity: 18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. 24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
There is indeed much iniquity in the world, yet there is also great iniquity in the church, and thus sexual impurity is very much evident in the fold of the church. And why is this? Is it not because the church continues to walk in its own wisdom, seeking after pride, exalting the self (which is idolatry), and thus in the process their [the church] thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.
It says in
