About this ebook

When your best friend's a computer programming prodigy, anything could happen . . .

Jason’s best friend was perfect for him in every way— and they both knew it. They had the same sense of humor, taste in games, and taste in women. Which was the problem: By the power of some divine trickster, he found his soulmate, best friends since they were kids, inseparable and the whole nine yards . . . only she was a lesbian. Big time.

But when Sienna offers Jason a job working on her new project as a tester, he begrudgingly accepts and is immediately thrown into a mirror-world version of his bedroom, where he finds he is a woman, a hot one, that Sienna is attracted to.

Time moves differently in the virtual world and they spend weeks and weeks together, exploring the ever-expanding world she had created, while falling helplessly in love with one another, wondering how they would ever return to the real world.

Just one more match, Sienna said over voice chat. She could have raised her voice and Jason would have heard her. But they decided they should try to avoid yelling through their paper-thin apartment walls, it made it easier to pretend they didn't hear everything.

I don’t know, said Jason, looking at the clock. It was already 3:45 AM and he had to get some sleep. I should really try to get my sleep schedule back on track, you know we spent the entire vacation playing this dumb game.

Dumb game? she said, getting a little offended. That’s not what you said yesterday, we even talked about it—

I’m just messing with you, but hey, don’t you think we play too much games?

I’m a game developer, dork, she said, I make games, games are my life, what the fuck are you talking about.

Right. It kind of got quiet for a minute. Sienna was a brilliant designer, graduated top of her class at a top-tier school, she wouldn’t tell Jason the location, but apparently it’s a good one because right out of school she was hired on as a junior dev for a major game company, then worked her way through the ranks and became a master, saving up enough money to start her own venture.

Meanwhile, Jason, who had a degree in art, made just enough money to pay his student loans and rent and wonders why life was so cruel.

So cruel as to match him with his soulmate, who was a lesbian.

They got along better than anyone he had ever met.

And he was positive she felt the same way, it was so obvious . . .

    But he's a dude.

Sienna broke the silence: Hey, did you think about my proposal?

Your proposal? You make it sound so official, so like, shouldn’t we think of a prenup?

Shut up, dorkface. Did you feed Max?

    He’s your dog.

    But did you feed him?

Ya, I fed him, it's Thursday, isn’t it? said Jason.

I really don’t know what I'd do without you.

I don’t know, Jason said, I can’t remember the last time we fucked, so maybe get an actual girlfriend?

Woah, nobody has time for that, besides, I told you, I still need a testing partner to run through some testing.

I told you, I’m terrible at computer stuff.

"Don’t worry about it, it’s the user
