About this ebook

Engineering student Tom is fed up with his sociology class after earning an F on his last assignment, which involved an essay answering the question: "If you were the opposite sex, would your life be harder or easier?" Tom wrote at length that it would be easier, because he could wear sexy clothes and flirt with bosses to get ahead. However, his sociology professor, Lisa Stewart, sees things differently.

Now Tom's breaking into her office in the middle of the night to change his grade. But unfortunately he's caught in the act by Lisa—who reveals herself to be a witch and decides to discipline him accordingly! An ultimatum is made: either he wises up and rewrites his essay with a more thoughtful answer, or he'll find out what it's really like to be the opposite sex.

Bit by bit, Tom begins losing his masculinity to smooth, curvy features. But even when his reflection becomes unrecognizable, he's still intent on proving that he's right...

Tom tiptoed down the dark hallway of the administrative offices, feeling unintentionally like a cat burglar prowling for a high-priced score. Security was pretty lax around the university; the bottom-floor entrance had been locked, but someone had left a window open. The night was refreshingly cool, and it was a quarter till two in the morning.

He eyed the names on the doors as he went past.

    DAVIS. HAMILTON. RODRIGUEZ…

The one he was looking for was STEWART, as in Professor Lisa Stewart, his sociology teacher. She’d given him a failing grade on his last assignment. And because of it, he was underwater heading into the second half of the semester. It was such bullshit! He was studying to be an engineer. What the hell did sociology have to do with a profession that was primarily based around math and science, which he excelled at?

He kept mumbling profanities. For Professor Stewart’s dumb assignments. For the risks he had to take to make sure he passed his stupid classes.

Eventually, Tom came upon a door like all the others, which displayed the name of his weekly tormentor. He fished out his prepped paper clip, with the two jagged ends aligned together. Then he knelt and went to work on the simple lock.

He’d seen lock-picking depicted countless times in movies and TV shows. They always made it look so easy. Of course, he knew to expect a higher difficulty level in real life—but using a paper clip was possible. He’d watched YouTube videos to grasp a basic understanding of it. And if he kept trying, through trial and error, luck was bound to swing his way.

But it seemed impossible at first.

Tom put his novice skills to work for fifteen minutes, fudging with the shape of the paper clip and jamming it at the pins. He put his ear against the knob, listening for those clicks, all while remembering how he’d easily picked locks in Oblivion and wished the real-life version of it was as simple as playing a mini-game. He started to sweat more and become frustrated. Then he sat back on his haunches and threw his hands into the air.

Fucking hell, he sighed, looking both ways again, hoping there wasn’t some overnight janitor to be worried about.

So, no shit, it was definitely harder than in video games and TV shows!

Tom wiped the sweat off his brow and went back to work, forcing himself to be more delicate with the tumbler. With his cheek pressed against the knob, he made only calculated movements with the paper clip.

    Click.

    There was the first.

    Click.

    Second.

    Click.

    Third.

His heart was racing. His hand was trembling. He’d be in serious trouble if he was caught—it was grounds for being expelled and possibly arrested—but he wasn’t going to be.

    Click.

    Fourth.

His fingers shook carelessly on the last pin. He heard the paper clip scratching around inside. He closed his eyes and focused all his frustration with
