    About the Author

    Author’s Preface

This book you are holding is the result of a lifetime of journaling, self-improvement, and meticulous organisation of my thoughts. This book outlays extremely personal secrets that I share with you to guide you on your life’s journey.

Have you ever asked yourself any of these questions?

Why did this happen to me and how can I change it?

Am I good enough to do whatever I want?

Is it too late to be everything I want to be?

Why are people judging me? Are they right?

Why do people I love, hurt me? Am I unappreciated?

What is the meaning of my life? How can I create this meaning?

Will it ever get better for me and how do I follow my intuition?

Why can I not do that?

    What could go wrong?

Why does my past affect me so much and how do I use it to liberate me?

These questions often agitate us, but they serve a deep purpose. The underlying problem isn't you. We have never been taught to study ourselves. This book is a guide and loving approach to stop fighting yourself and start loving your life. You’ll find out how it isn't other people that are getting in your way; it isn't even your circumstances. Ultimately you can do anything if you latch on to this belief.

You can grow at any point in your life.

    WHAT THIS BOOK IS ABOUT

Every chapter in this book opens with a story from my childhood and closes with a learning. These are true stories to the best of my recollection and journal. Some of the stories may be considered as brutal but that’s when we learn the most. Pseudonyms have been used to protect the identity of individuals. This is by design to guide you to work on a particular area in your life. This book is about:

    Finding your true self

    Making peace with your past

Letting go of perspectives that do not serve you

    Trying again

    Backing yourself like a superhero

Overcoming and getting rid of fear

    Finding your higher purpose

Becoming a role model for others

Inviting great opportunities into your life

    Prioritising you in your life

    Overcoming toxic energy

    DEFAULT VS DESIGN

There are two pathways and one of them leads to Misery, the other leads to Greatness.

Many of us live in default mode – Passive as hell. Shifting responsibility. Hoping that the worst will automatically leave us.

But the truth is you can live life by design mode, also known as conscious living where you take control of your life, become so true to yourself that you start to love life automatically. That’s when all your problems truly melt away and you achieve more heights than you ever imagined.

With this book, you’ll be equipped with the most powerful tools and strategies to help you find your personal path to greatness. I have firsthand experienced these stories and life lessons. I offer you my ideas based on the latest cutting edge of what I now know and invite you to take your pick of the lessons that truly resonate with you.

I’ve found with everything in life the 80/20 pareto principle applies. This means 80% of your true success in life comes from the 20%. The most important 20% you need is to do ‘Go Find Yourself’. In fact, it reveals the highest infinite return you can possibly get.

If you wait, you’ll go through life being in the passive default mode. Don’t wait another second. Do it now. Are you willing to take the first step? Read the next page.

    Lesson 1

    ACCEPT ADVERSITY LIKE A CHAMPION

"Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference." – Reinhold Niebuhr

The commotion in the living room had woken me from a deep sleep. Noisy disturbances were normal in our household, so much so that I would usually try to sleep through them. This night was different. An unexplained wailing was coming from the living room. Rubbing my eyes, I dragged myself out of bed. Hugging my stuffed toy racoon, I headed to the hallway where a dull tube light flickered. I could see my mother in a distance. She was wrapped in a blanket, shivering, and crying. She was in extreme pain.

    BLUE BLOOD UPBRINGING

As I approached, I could see blood stains all through the carpet that led to Mom. My steps slowed. I saw Mom closely; she was conscious, opening and closing her eyes - a deep open wound on her forehead gushing blood. Frozen in shock, I stood there - frightened and powerless. I was only four years old.

I heard multiple loud sirens competing with Mom’s high-pitched crying. Paramedics rushed through our open front door, while the police quickly followed. The police questioned what had happened, and Mom responded with - ‘I slipped and fell.’ The paramedics bandaged her forehead, said she was stable and left.

The police stayed, debating amongst themselves in Arabic for what felt like forever. They kept glancing at the clothes iron in the living room. The police also quizzed my older brother and sisters who were all under the age of 14, and finally left.

    IRON NIGHTMARES

Violence was not new or uncommon in our household. Untold stories reveal countless domestic attacks using bottles of ‘Johnny Walker,’ ice cold water, pots and pans, shards of glass, slippers, car tyres and any other household item imaginable. The devastation that a clothes iron could cause when used as a weapon is ruthless.

This was a scene of domestic violence, and my first ever childhood memory.

Yikes, that little child in the scene was me! Except, I am not that little child anymore. Years later I realised I had to embrace not what had happened, but what I chose to become.
