    Prologue

    ~Caroline’s P.O.V~

I was stood backstage and took a deep breath. I could not believe I was doing this. I know Hannah was here, which is why I was a little more nervous. I was stood on my own as I needed to calm myself down. I don’t know why I was so nervous, when I’ve done a show bigger than this. Yet, I couldn’t help but be nervous. I looked down at the dress I was wearing, and smiled. I knew this would be fine, and I knew I would do well. I closed my eyes, and I was ready for this. I knew nothing I did now would mess this up…

    ~Hannah’s P.O.V~

I arrived at the venue with plenty of time to spare. I couldn’t wait to see Caroline performing. I knew she would do great. She even told me that she has been doing rehearsals for this show and it has been going along well. Even though I arrived with time, quite a few people were already there. I guess they wanted the best seats to see this. I sat down, and luckily, no one battered an eyelid, which was amazing for me. I looked over and saw her mom and dad stood there with Ryan, Nick and Charlie. I didn’t really want them to see me, otherwise we’d get caught up talking, which I didn’t really fancy at this point. I took a seat ready for the show to start, and as I did, Nick noticed me, and ran towards me. Fantastic…

    Chapter 1

    ~Caroline’s P.O.V~

I woke up that Tuesday morning with the normal beeping of my alarm. I turned it off and sat up in bed, before looking around my room. I then heard the screaming of my baby sister, Charlie. I sighed, before getting out of bed, ready for another stressful day of school, to then come home and babysit my three younger siblings.

I haven’t even introduced myself. My name is Caroline Madison Daniels. I am 17 years old, and I will be 18 on November 10th. I am currently studying in high school, and I am in 11th grade, which is junior year. I live in Los Angeles, California with my mom, dad and three siblings; my baby sister, Charlie, and my two brothers, Ryan and Nick. They can be a pain, but I get along with them, which is why babysitting is easier for me. Ryan is 13 and in 8th grade, and Nick is 5, so he is in kindergarten. Charlie is only 10 months old. As cute as it sounds, she can be annoying when she wakes up in the middle of the night crying. I’m just glad mom and dad are both here to look after her. It just means they can get to her quickly if she cried during the night. I still remember when she was born. She was constantly crying, waking Nick, Ryan and myself up every night, so we were very cranky. Since then, we have sorted this out, and now she sleeps most nights. Some nights, she can wake me up as the nursery is next door to my bedroom, and some of those nights I do end up waking up, hearing her cry and I go in there to calm her down. Soon enough, she calms down, and I go back to bed. Usually this goes on for days, or even weeks. She has been very settled lately, which is a good thing as I really need to concentrate on my school work. It is near the end of the semester, but as I go to a private school, we have to deal with it, and we actually finish the semester in the middle of July, and we have a final show at the end of July, once the semester has finished. Those that are in the show have to keep coming in so they can rehearse and I know for a fact that I really want a part in the show. None of the class knows what it is yet, but I really cannot wait, as I can guarantee it will be fun.

Anyway, now it’s the end of my introduction, I’d better carry on with the story. As I was saying, I woke up, and I got out, before getting ready. I got half of my uniform on – and by half, just the black pants and socks, and a black vest-top – before I went next door to pick Charlie up. Come here, let’s go and see mommy, shall we? I said, calmly to her. She stopped crying as I rocked her, and she looked at me before giving me that special smile she always does when she sees me. I kept rocking her, before taking her downstairs, where I saw mom in the kitchen doing our breakfasts. Morning mom.

Morning honey, how did you sleep?

I slept alright thank you. I got my pants on, before I went to check on Charlie as she was crying, so I went in and rocked her. She is now calm, which is good but I think she wanted her mommy. I said, passing her over.

You are an absolute angel. I have no idea what I would do if I didn’t have your help while your father is getting ready for work.

I’m ready for work, darling. I just had to get Ryan and Nick up. I will also be taking Nick to kindergarten, before dropping Ryan off at school. I will then head off for school myself, so I shall see you there. Dad said, coming over and giving mom a kiss. Usually, children would find this embarrassing and disgusting if their parent’s kissed in front of them, but I didn’t. I was really happy as I looked up at them. I knew they were madly in love, as they were when they first met back in high school. Dad then walked over, before giving me a kiss on the forehead, and ran back upstairs. Ryan, Nick, you two better be awake. We have to leave in a minute.

So, I take it I will be coming to school with you? I asked mom.

Yes you will. We also have to drop Charlie off with the new babysitter.

That’s fine. I said, before I kissed mom on the cheek and Charlie on the forehead. I then went upstairs to finish getting ready for school. I finally managed to get my teeth brushed, and I put my shirt on. I then got my blazer on, and sighed at the sight. I walked over to my make-up table, before starting on my make-up and hair, and about 15 minutes later, I had finished. I walked downstairs with my bags, and I turned around to see Nick running towards me.

I have to go to kindergarten now, Caramel. Nick said, hugging my legs. I laughed as he called me Caramel – it was his nickname for me.

I hope you have fun today. I said, leaning down and helping him put his jacket on, and tying his shoes up.

I will. I will be thinking of you, and I will miss you.

He ran into my bedroom this morning saying that to me. Ryan said as he came downstairs.

He does it every morning, Ry. At least you know he thinks of us. I laughed. Now, I get that siblings will usually fight, but us three didn’t. We always got along.

Come on, boys, time to get to school. Dad said, running through the living room to the kitchen. We all laughed seeing this, as it was a rare sight to see dad run.

Have fun today, and I might be picking you up from school, if mom and dad can’t. I informed Ryan. Mom and dad usually worked until 6, so I had to get the boys home to do their dinners.

Come at me, bro. Ryan said. That was somehow his saying right now.

"If you haven’t noticed bro, I’m a girl." I laughed.

Alright, come at me, sis. I smiled as I hugged them goodbye. They ran off, before dad walked through and left, blowing me a kiss in the process. I then walked into the kitchen to see mom sorting out her bag. Mom, how long are you going to be?

Not long. Could you take Charlie, and get her ready?

Yeah, no problem I said, before taking her upstairs. I managed to change her diaper and get her changed, with a couple of things for the babysitter. I walked downstairs with everything to see mom ready.

Are you ready to go, sweetheart?

I am. I sorted everything for Charlie too, so she should have everything.

    Thank you. Right let’s go.

    Chapter 2

    ~Hannah’s P.O.V~

Hannah, time to wake up, you have a long day ahead of you. I heard my manager, Steve tell me.

Yeah, I think I’ll just stay in bed today, thanks.

You are not staying in bed. You have rehearsing for your concert.

Do I have to do it?

Yes, you do. You are not disappointing your fans. I’ll be back in 10 minutes to see if you’re awake. Steve said, before leaving. I groaned, before rolling over and opening my eyes. I looked around my tour bus, and I knew I had to get up, to do the rehearsals for my concert…

I really need to introduce myself, before we continue. My name is Hannah Elizabeth Coury, and I am 17 years old. My birthday is September 25th, which I guess I cannot wait. I can then do things my way. I live in Los Angeles, even though I am currently in San Francisco, which is my hometown. You may wonder why I have a manager, and why I am on a tour bus. Well that is because I am a singer, which can be fun at times. The only downside of it is that I don’t have friends due to the fact I get homeschooled when I’m at home. The upside to homeschooling though – I don’t do it when I’m on tour. I live at home with my mom and dad. It’s alright, but it does get lonely at times with just the three of us. They don’t work, but, I don’t really mind as we can have more time for each other.

Hannah, are you awake? I hear Steve yell to me.

Yes, I am. No need to come in. I replied. I didn’t hear him say anything back, so I guess he’d walked away to sort the stage out or songs out ready for my rehearsals. I don’t see why I need all the fancy lights and stage to rehearse. I can sit down and rehearse my songs. I got out of bed, before putting my sweats on and a normal shirt. Hey, it’s only rehearsals; I don’t have to look presentable for it. I walked out of the bus, which was parked in the concert hall. I couldn’t see any sight of Steve, or anyone else, so I sighed, before rubbing the sleepy dust out of my eyes, and I then made my way to the hall. I walked in and saw the regular sight of the stage with a few people on. I’m here. I said. Steve looked up at me and smiled.

Morning, Hannah, we have sorted everything out, so you can just grab a microphone and get rehearsing, okay? We can go through the line-up if you want too.

Couldn’t I just sit down and rehearse the songs? I don’t see the point of singing on stage, when I’m not doing the concert until tomorrow night.

I keep explaining this. It’s so you can get used to the size of the stage and you can understand where you have to be stood, and where to walk around.

Alright. I bluntly responded to him.

That’s my girl. Steve remarked. Okay, even though he’s my manager, he is like my older brother. Well, my really older brother, considering he is 32. Well, at times he can seem like an older brother, then at other times he can seem like a dad, which can get on my nerves, but we do have a good bond.

I managed to rehearse all morning, which was very tiring for me, but as soon as it was done, I was happy to know I could get a lunch break. Steven took me back to the tour bus, for me to get changed into ‘normal’ clothes as he’d put them. After a few minutes looking through the clothes I had with me, I decided on a knee length dress and my black high heeled ankle boots. I stepped off the bus, before Steve took me to the limo, where we would go to somewhere for lunch. We managed to drop off in McDonald’s where I got a cheeseburger, and fries. Steve made sure I wouldn’t eat them just yet, and we then walked to Starbucks; Steve holding my food for me. I did get stopped a few times to take pictures, and give autographs, but then that is my life. I gave it all up when I was 14. I gave up my normal life just to sing as a living, which was alright, as it’s something that I love to do. Anyway as I was saying we walked to Starbucks, and we finally got there longer than it should usually take, and we walked in, before a couple of people looked over at me. I ignored it, although I was used to the attention, so it was easier for me to ignore. We walked up and I managed to get a coffee, same with Steve. We then sat down once we had it, and we also dug into our McDonald’s.

Right, so when we go back, we can run through the songs with choreography if you would like? Steve asked me, as I was taking a sip of coffee.

Would I be able to have the afternoon off? I mean, you saw how I worked during the rehearsals. Isn’t that the best I’ve ever done?

Yes it is the best you’ve done, but I’d still rather have it, that you do one more rehearsal this afternoon, then one more tomorrow morning. Then after lunch tomorrow, we will then have the afternoon off so you can get ready, and I will allow you to sing your songs while getting ready if that makes you feel better.

So all I have to do is two more rehearsals until the show?

Yes, two more rehearsals, then the show, then we will have a long journey back to L.A, where you will have 13 rehearsals, then the final show of the tour.

    Wait, 13 rehearsals?

Yes. I’ve planned it, so we get back, and you rest for a day. The next day we’re back doing rehearsals twice a day, and the 13th rehearsal will be a morning rehearsal before the show. Does that sound okay?

So I still have about 15 rehearsals until the end of my tour?

    Yes, if that is alright?

It’s fine, as long as I can have a month or two off before doing another concert.

I guess I can allow it, but between the months, we will have the occasional rehearsing, okay?

Okay, fine. As long as I can rest, go to the mall without you, and just be a normal teenage girl, then I’m fine.

Hannah, since you got that record deal when you were 14, you have not been a normal girl. I can’t see that you will ever be a normal girl again.

    What if I quit?

You will still be known as who you are now. A famous singer, even if you’re not singing. I hope you’re not thinking of quitting.

Even if I did, you’d be a part of my life. You’re friends with dad, so I don’t see why you wouldn’t be.

I’m not worried about not seeing you anymore. I just thought you loved singing, that’s all.

I do love singing just it gets tiring at times. I replied. We then finished lunch, before getting the limo back to the concert hall. Steve gave me an hour off before going back to rehearsing. In that hour, I managed to phone my parents to see how they were, which they told me they were fine and that was music to my ears. I had a tiring afternoon rehearsing harder than I did this morning, and I finally finished rehearsing, which I then went back to the tour bus, and collapsed on the couch. I honestly felt like sleeping then, as I was really tired from today, and I had a long day tomorrow.

    Chapter 3

    ~Caroline’s P.O.V~

Mom and I got in the car; me strapping Charlie in her baby seat, before mom started to drive to the babysitter for the day. We finally got her dropped off and mom drove us to school, which was alright and we had a good chat on the way about the school work I had and what homework I had. The awkward thing was that I have dad for my art class, so he and mom always made sure I got my work done to the best of my ability. The story of my parents is a nice one though. Basically they came to this high school, and it's where they met, and they both ended up going to study teaching at college. They both stopped contacting once they were in college because although they were doing the same program, they were in different classes, because dad always wanted to teach art, and mom always wanted to teach history, so as I said, they stopped contacting. As soon as they left, they managed to get a job in this school, which was when they started talking again. And it's when they managed to even start dating. It's a story I really wanted to know about mom and dad, about how they met and everything. And now they have 4 children who love them both, and each other. As I said, it can be awkward having your dad as your teacher, but while we're all in school, it's just easier to ignore the fact we're related. So we can act like teacher-student at school, and then when we get home, mom and dad can be less strict, and more like a normal mom and dad.

As soon as we managed to get to school, I leaned over, gave mom a kiss on the cheek and left me to it, as she had to go to sort her class out, as she had a class during the first period. I also knew dad had a class first period, because I had art first. I would obviously make sure I stay behind to speak to him about the time he would be home, and whether he’d need anything doing when I finish school at 2:30. I walked into the class, and smiled at dad, before sitting down. I knew what we were pretty much going to do today – obviously I heard dad tell mom what we would be doing today. Perks of living at home with teachers, although the downside is they always make sure you get homework done as soon as you get it, although it’s the reasons for my straight-A’s. Class came and went quickly, and I finally had the chance to speak to dad before next class.

So, dad is there anything you need from the store on the way home, or anything done at home before you and mom get in?

I think we need more diapers for Charlie, speaking of which, she needs picking up from her babysitter’s at about half 3, and I know you will be home before then. I cannot remember if she will drop Charlie off, or whether you will need to go and get her. If you see your mom today, then ask her, as she would know more than me. I thought you would’ve been told when you dropped her off earlier.

No, I stayed in the car, so I have no idea what’s going on with it. Anyway, I can just text mom before leaving, or during lunch today.

That should be fine. Or I can see her at lunch anyway and ask her then.

If you remember, dad. I said, with a laugh.

Thanks. Other than picking the diapers up for Charlie, I have no idea what else I need. Dad replied, giving me $10 for this afternoon.

Thanks. What time will you be coming home?

Probably about 6.30 as usual. Anyway, get off to class, otherwise you’ll be late.

I won’t be. See you later.

Bye. Dad said, before I left for class. On the way, I put the $10 in my purse, so I knew where it was ready for after school. I then walked to my second class of the day, which was English. I had my cell phone in my pocket, and I had it on vibrate so I could know when mom or dad texted me to let me know what would be happening with Charlie. I thought of nothing else throughout the morning except from my work. In third period, before lunch, I felt my cell phone go off, which was a text. I knew I had to wait until lunch to check it, so I left it at that, and continued with my work, which was fun. Surely enough half an hour later, we were allowed out for lunch, and as I checked my phone, I saw that the text was from mom: Honey, your dad just asked what was going on with Charlie, and whether she would need picking up. The babysitter will be dropping her off at 3.15. I know you finish at 2.30, and it takes you half an hour to walk home. See you about 5.30. At least I knew I had about 45 minutes to get home, as I had to go into the store. With the timings, I knew I had to pick Nick up on the way home, which would be me getting home at 3.05, as Nick finished kindergarten at 2.45, and it did only take me 15 minutes to get to his kindergarten from school, then from there it took me about 20 minutes to get home. After that, I would get home, then have the babysitter drop Charlie home, before I'd have to leave and get Ryan from school at 3.30, as he finished school then. I thought about the timings for me, and thought that I could wait for Ryan to come out of school, before going to the store, so I had both Ryan and Nick with me too. I knew dad gave me $10, and I thought it would be alright for me to get the boys a candy bar or something if they behave in the store. I decided that the best way for me to do it is this way, so I knew I would have enough time for me to pick Nick up, go home, and drop my things off, to then have Charlie dropped off, then I can leave to get Ryan, then go to the store. I would then go home, and possibly sort their dinners out, depending on the time we get home. That, or I do their dinners at about 5.30, get mom and dad's dinner on ready for them to have it when they get in from work. I had that planned out, at least, so now I didn't have to worry about this. The lunch hour went quickly, and I walked back into fourth period, which also went quickly.

Finally, the end of the day came around, and as planned, I came out and went straight to Nick’s kindergarten. I saw a few parents outside, and I waited until I could see Nick come out. He looked around, and saw me, before waving to me.

Caramel, look what I did today. He said, before giving me a picture.

Wow, this is amazing, what is it? I asked. I had an idea of what it was; I just wanted him to tell me himself.

How do you not know? You’re not blind. It’s us. There’s our house, with mommy, daddy, Ryan, you and Charlie in mommy’s arms.

Well it is really good. We’ll have to show mommy and daddy when they get home from work won’t we?

Yeah we will. And we have to show Ryan too. Nick said, taking hold of my hand, as I stood up straight. I smiled and agreed, before we walked home. We got in, and Nick ran straight up to his bedroom, while I put the picture on the kitchen table. I looked up at the clock on the wall, and it said it was 3.10, so I had 5 minutes before Charlie would be dropped off. I got an orange juice poured into a glass, and two cookies out for Nick. I went to the bottom of stairs.

Nick, come down here, please. I made you a drink. I said. A couple of minutes later, Nick came downstairs, and went into the kitchen. As he was smaller than the counter, he couldn’t see the drink or the cookies.

Caramel where is my drink? He asked politely.

Here it is. Go into the living room, and I’ll put something on, okay? I said, before giving him his drink, and cookies. He smiled a huge smile at me, before walking gently into the living room. At which point, the doorbell went off, which I knew would be Charlie being dropped off. I walked to the door, before opening it. Hi, Kimberly, how was she?

She was really well behaved. I had to change her twice, and she has had a nap about lunch time. Will your mom be dropping her off tomorrow morning at the same time?

    I would hope so, yeah.

    Okay, see you then.

Bye. I then said, before holding Charlie. Have you been a good girl, today? Yes you have. I said to her. I took her through to the living room. Nick, once you’ve finished your drink, we need to get Ryan from school then go to the store, okay?

Okay. He replied, standing up with his drink going through to the kitchen. Show Charlie my picture that I drew. He then said, grabbing it from the table. Look, Charlie. Look what I drew today. There you are in mommy’s arms. I smiled as I saw Charlie put her hand out to put it on top of the picture. I couldn’t be happier knowing I had amazing siblings that I got on with. I think she likes it. Nick giggled.

I think she does too. Have you finished? I asked.

Yeah, here you go. Nick then replied, handing me the glass before walking out. A couple of seconds later, he walked in with Charlie’s pram. I thanked him for bringing it in for me, and I put Charlie in it. Nick then put his jacket on, ready to leave and he grabbed the pram, as he usually would on the way to Ryan’s school. We managed to arrive with a couple of minutes to spare. Nick let go, and put his face up to the fence ready to see when Ryan would come out. I stood there, gently rocking Charlie’s pram. I kept an eye on Nick, making sure he stayed where he was. He then turned around and looked at Charlie. Charlie’s fallen asleep Caramel.

My rocking skills are still there. I said there with a laugh. When Nick was a baby, I would rock him to sleep. Nick went back to looking through the fence, and I looked around, noticing a few other parents waiting for their children. These parents knew that Nick and Charlie were my siblings, as they knew mom and dad worked at the school I go to, and I always ended up wearing my uniform to the school to pick Ryan up, due to getting in, having Charlie dropped off, and then leaving to get Ryan. After a few minutes, Nick ran over to me.

I see Ryan, I see Ryan. Nick said to me. I looked up to see Ryan spot me, and starting to walk over to me. Ryan! Nick yelled, running towards him, and hugging him.

Hey, Ry. We have to go to the store to get more diapers for Charlie.

Okay, that’s cool. Ryan replied, as Nick took his hand.

I want to walk around with Ryan.

Nice to know I feel loved.

You are, just Ryan looks lonely. Ryan and I both laughed a little at Nick’s comment. We got to the store, and I got the diapers, which was only $3.50. I knew I had $6.50 left, so I said to the boys that they could get a candy bar each. They ran off together, and they came running back a couple of minutes later with a bar each, also having Nick pick one out for me. I paid for them all, and we walked home. We managed to get in at 4.30, which meant I had an hour before doing dinner.

Ryan, would you be able to take Charlie, please?

Sure. Ryan said, taking Charlie. I think she needs a change.

"Right, give her here then. If she
