Introduction
39396.pngIn truth, the only difference between those who failed and those who have succeeded lies in the difference of their habits.
Og Mandino
Have you ever dreamed of becoming the best version of yourself?
Where love, happiness, peace and joy all exude from each and every pore? While everything in your life: your work, your kids, your relationships and everything in between, ties together perfectly?
But like many others you probably consider this world to be a fantasy. That for one reason or another a place in time like this couldn’t really exist.
If you were to go along with what everyone else believes you would be right. Because their whole lives have been spent believing that story.
However the fact that you’ve bought this book shows me that you’re not like the rest of the world. There’s a part of you, deep down, which knows you can have a truly purposeful life.
You just don’t know how to do it.
The truth is, the path to that way of life isn’t long and hard. Although it requires effort it only takes a few simple steps each day to drastically improve your quality of life.
The only obstacle in your way?
You.
The negative thoughts you have. The connection with God you’ve neglected. The bad habits you’ve picked up that stop you from being fully immersed in this present moment.
But if you’re willing to smash through the barriers that you’ve created for yourself. And learn how to create that life you truly desire then you’re in the right place.
Who Am I To Tell You All This?
As you scroll through the pages of this book, you may ask yourself: "Who is this Annie Reist, and why should I listen to what she has to say?"
To qualify myself, I am a mother of four beautiful teenagers and a wife to my amazing husband Marty.
But my story runs much, much deeper than that.
I’m a woman who like many of you reading this book spent most of her life without solid focus or purpose. Life wasn’t going to slow down to let me find it either.
One day, it was my 21st birthday party. The next I was waking up as a 38 year old. With no idea where the time had gone at all.
This forced me to face a couple of harsh, but real truths about my life:
• I wasn’t truly happy
• I was struggling to deal with life’s adversities
• There was something missing (but I couldn’t put my finger on it)
Not only had 17 years of my life passed without even stopping in for a coffee and a chat. I was now presented with another more pressing problem.
I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.
The children who defined the last 17 years of my life no longer needed me in the same way. There were no more diaper changes, Lego houses and bedtime stories.
Instead all that was left was their real problems that I had no idea how to deal with.
If you wanted a dictionary definition of ‘downward spiral’ this time of my life fits perfectly.
In order to find the answers I did what every other person does when they need to learn something about themself.
I turned to Oprah.
Finding My Purpose In Life
On her show one morning she interviewed some spiritual leaders. And it’s the only time in my life I’ve ever felt chills watching television.
Everything they said spoke directly to me. It was almost as if I wasn’t watching a show. It felt like a one-on-one Skype conversation.
For the first time in my entire life I knew exactly what I had to do.
I started buying spiritual books, tapes, podcasts and videos. Each one brought me clearer answers. Life became a little easier. My resolve a little stronger. My purpose clearer.
The rest, as they say, is history.
My purpose became helping others find their purpose. To help people find the fulfillment in their lives that hides in the darkest reaches of their soul.
And to write this book that will help you do the same.
So who am I to tell you all of this?
Someone who has experienced the times of being lost and alone. But came out better for it. And can show you how to do exactly the same.
Whether you are a teenage male athlete, a young mother, a grandparent wondering where the time has gone, or anyone in-between, I believe that you can
