    Chapter 1 WHAT IS MARRIAGE

    Physically marriage is legally entering into a legal agreement to live as man and wife. It is a natural and worldly commitment to join together in the state of matrimony. Marriage is a proclamation of your intent to live together and love each other through all good and bad situations and circumstances. This is the only partnership that requires total commitment of all your resources.  The vows say for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, making it top priority until death. Marriage requires your time, attention, finances, health and well -being every day. And it asks for this commitment forever. When you take this oath before the required witness and the municipal authority stamp that certificate, the world expects you to become one unit. People expect you to speak in the terms of this partnership.  Husband and wife now become members of the most prestigious merger that can be accomplished.  They are thought to be embarking on the easiest, hardest, most trying, most fulfilling, longest, and most rewarding journey of their lives.  There is no journey like the marriage journey.

    Spiritually, marriage is the joining together of a man and a woman in covenant with God, to give of one’s whole self-unto the other.  It is agreeing to become one- one mind, one body, one spirit in the presence of the Lord and the Spirit of God.  It is the place where two kindred spirits reunite in the divine purpose of their creation.   When a man and a women decide to take the physical vows, their spirits are
