    Dedication

In honor of mother and son relationships everywhere

    Foreword

Enter a house.  As an observer, hear these words, I know I suck right now, but I still got big dreams.  Words from a teenage son, Tyler, to his mother, Jerri.

This is the back and forth dialogue they have allowed us to see.  This is a conversation teenage boys need to have with their mothers. The things they experience. What they see happening to their family.

It is also a conversation mothers need to have with their teenage sons. Especially black families.

Jemele Hill says, black mothers have to be tougher to ensure their sons make it back home.

When I read this poetic conversation, I hear a son say I am hurt. I hear a mother say, let me hurt with you.  They both want to be heard.

After you read this, talk with your son.  Talk with your mother. The nose ring, the tattoo, the car, the girlfriend, the school life, will be there. It will come. The conversation is the relationship. You must have conversations about these situations. And as Jerri announces to her son, Nothing good comes from avoiding situations.

    Continued Success,

    Marcus G. Taylor
