An excerpt from Close Encounters:

I could feel the soft, yielding floor of Eolwin’s special room beneath me. The ground was covered by the same material that had lined the floors of the cathedral, and I wanted to strip totally naked and feel what it was like against my bare skin.

In my mind’s eye, that was what happened. In a flash my clothes were simply gone, and I dropped back against the floor with a smile on my lips and writhed on the carpet, enjoying the sensation. The wool-like material was even softer against my skin than I had expected, and I was surprised at how smooth and sensitive my body was here. I released a sigh of pleasure and ran my hands down my imaginary form.

Shockingly, the sensation was nothing like what I had expected—in this realm of imagination, I appeared to have somehow been transported into a female body! But even more surprising was that it didn’t seem unusual or off-putting as I might have expected. Instead it felt completely natural, wonderful even, and my lips parted in sudden excitement as I released a small sigh of pleasure at how amazing my smooth, supple skin felt beneath the soft pads of my fingers.

Curious, I cupped my breasts in each hand—a thoroughly satisfying experience. They were full and heavy in my palms, and my nipples hardened beneath my thumbs. The sensation shot straight down to my center, tingling and exciting me, and I experienced a strange sensation between my legs: moisture and excitement. I was wet. I spread my thighs and peeked down in surprise. The slit between my thighs was smooth and glistening with moisture. What I could only assume to be my clit tingled as I stared at my new form, and I gasped at how amazing the sensation was.

When I blinked, a new person was suddenly beside me. I couldn’t see his face, but I could feel his presence. He was everywhere. His hands were warm and strong as he gripped my hips and drew me towards him.

My breath sped up, and my heart raced in my chest. A part of me wanted to pull away, feeling incredibly dirty and strange about this bizarre experience. I’d never had homosexual thoughts or experiences before, but that wasn’t what this was—was it? My companion was a man here, and I was a woman. Part of me wanted to open my eyes and find myself back in Eolwin’s room, to flee from the strange feelings that stirred within me. I wanted to activate comms with my ship and ask them to beam me back up to the transportation bay to hide my shame and confusion at how much I liked what was happening.

That was when I heard Eolwin’s voice. Their lips were at my ear, their breath warm against my neck. Let go of all your inhibitions here, Ben. They do not belong. There’s no point in fighting the way you feel.

The man’s lips crashed down onto mine, and I gave in to his kiss. I understood now that my partner here was Eolwin, and for some reason it made me immediately feel better. I listened to his advice and let go, simply enjoying the sensations of our closeness without worrying about anything else. There was no one here but us—no one to judge, and no one to see. Nothing wrong with what we were doing. I could not deny that the feelings coursing through my mind-body were good—better than good. My toes curled, and I wrapped my arms around the Eolwin’s neck, pulling him in closer.

His hands moved back up my body, and he stopped to squeeze a nipple. His thumb and forefinger tugged and pinched. I moaned, and my thighs spread further of their own accord. I yearned for him to take me. It was an animal need, deeply primal, and I gave into it and simply let him have his way…

Chapter 1

I sat behind the helm of my exploration-class starship, guiding us gently toward our mysterious destination. The tension on deck was palpable as we came to a smooth halt, the EM-drive engines humming quietly in the background as they spun down. Everyone seemed to be at a loss for words. Here we were, at the edge of the known galaxy, and it was going to be me, Captain Benjamin Rollins, who was to lead the first expedition in two centuries to a foreign planet that might be inhabited with actual, intelligent life. It was a thrilling culmination of everything I’d worked for in my career, and it was pure dumb luck.

Through the windshield, I stared at the vaguely Earth-like planet with my crew, who were no doubt as fascinated and curious as I was. We all had our reasons for signing up for deep-space exploration, but a love of discovering new and unseen things was a passion that united us all; finding this planet was the kind of discovery people dreamed about at the academy, and was directly in line with our oath to go where no man had gone before and push the limits of human understanding of the world around us. I glanced down at the monitor before me, observing the mounting results of the ongoing scan. It was far more than we had expected to find. When the strange blip had shown up on our radar a few days before, detecting a mysterious planet that might be able to support life, we had no idea what we might find. To have avoided the attention of Earth’s scientists before now, there was clearly some cloaking mechanism in play that kept it hidden from far-range sensors, which suggested that these aliens might be far more advanced than we Earthlings.

Now, with my spaceship in orbit high above the unexplored alien planet, I was brought near to shaking with excitement. It was breathtakingly beautiful, unlike any of the deserted rocks we’d stumbled across thus far in our expedition. Largely resembling our planet Earth, its appearance was comprised mostly of deep blue waters with the odd smattering of green and white land across its surface.

It’s incredible, Captain, my first officer finally said, breaking the silence of the cabin.
