About this ebook

In every generation there is a chosen one: a girl-child born with supernatural powers. She alone is the slayer who stands against the darkness. But when she dies, Alex is the one who steps up to claim her powers... and the smoking hot body that comes with them.
Ever since their friend was brutally murdered by a vampire in an alley, the only thing Alex and his friend Nadine have lived for is vengeance. They made themselves into the best vampire hunters they could be, creeping through the darkness and fighting back against the evil infesting their town so that no one else they cared about would ever fall prey to a bloodsucker again.
But when a routine stake-out goes awry and an interrupted ritual sends some surprising magic Alex’s way, he finds himself with a few new assets at his disposal: supernatural strength, blinding speed, and a smoking-hot body. There’s just one problem: it’s a female body, and even worse, he’s stuck in it!
With no way to reverse the ritual and a terrifying vampire threat on the horizon, can Alex—now Xan—learn to use his new body and new powers before the evil vampire Diablo has his way with him? Time is short, and he’ll need to focus if he wants to save his town. If only there weren’t so many new and exciting distractions for a gorgeous, curvy blonde...

    Chapter 1

The wickedly sharpened stake had been rough when Alex had first carved it from the oak tree in his backyard, but years of his fingers running over the wood had polished it to a smooth, well-worn finish. The weight of it was familiar and comforting now in his hand as he rolled it between anxious fingers. It was his chosen weapon against the dark forces of the world, and it had seen him through plenty of battles. Battles like the one he hoped to start—and finish—tonight.

You see anything yet? he asked quietly.

Nadine’s figure shifted quietly beside him, and she gave a slight shake of her head. He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, studying her face for any clue about what she might be thinking. She looked a little nervous, a little excited, just like she always did when they were on the hunt.

They’d gotten to be quite good at it in the years since Chris had been murdered… after their friend’s death at the hands of that vamp in the dark alley, that had been the end of a normal life for them both. Neither of them were willing to let anyone they cared about be threatened by a vampire ever again, which is how they ended up as hunters. As long as Alex could defend himself, he’d fight. As long as he could fight, he wouldn’t be a victim of the darkness that plagued him.

Nadine’s dark brown skin glowed underneath the powder she’d put on before they left her house, catching the dim light of the bar and turning her into a mystical, shimmering figure with her hair all neat and gathered into a ponytail. He could never understand why she liked to be perfectly made up before a fight when all of her makeup and hairspray would run off with sweat after just a few minutes. It seemed pointless, and her explanation didn’t make sense either: that it made her feel like a badass to know she looked incredible. Girls never made any sense.

He did have to admit that she looked good right now, though, eyes fierce and focused on the little door set into the wall opposite them. Her long, slender form was almost made for their work; a coiled whip that she could command with perfect precision against their targets.

They should have been here by now, she said to him, and he returned his gaze to the door of the bar, trying to see anything through the murky, never-washed glass of the windowpane.

Their source had said the group liked to congregate in the basement of this place on specific nights of the week, and they’d been waiting for over half an hour for something to happen. It certainly wasn’t the longest stakeout they’d ever had together, but Alex was starting to get antsy just waiting for the creatures to appear instead of going to hunt them down like he preferred to do. Strands of his dark hair had fallen from the ponytail he kept his long locks tied up in, but he was too afraid to draw attention to them by moving to put them back in place. Somehow, some way, he knew the second he moved or broke cover would be the second the creatures decided to show themselves. Every so often he felt the strands tickle the back of his neck, moved by the air conditioning in the room, and every single time he was convinced it was a vampire that had somehow snuck up on them.

I mean… does evil ever keep to a schedule? Alex asked Nadine.

She shrugged as minutely as possible in the limited space. Both of them were pretty certain they were in the right place, though. The bar, known around town as the place for paranormal enthusiasts and connoisseurs to hang out, had closed a few hours ago. They had found the door unlocked and lights on when they arrived, though—a sure sign that someone or something was expected soon.

Just as he was about to say so, they heard footsteps behind the bar’s back door. Instinctively, they both crouched lower though they were already fully hidden behind the counter. A figure in a hood and long robe entered the room, its face concealed by the shadow the fabric cast. Alex couldn’t help rolling his eyes at the theatrics vampires always went through–just once he’d have liked to meet one that didn’t walk around in clothes from the 1500s. He could understand such an outfit during the day when they had to be careful to avoid frying in the sun, but at night like this? There was no other reason for it except to set a spooky mood, and they had no way of knowing outsiders were watching them right now. Drama queens.

He and Nadine observed silently, barely even breathing, as the vampire crossed the bar and headed for the little door set into the wall. It was usually locked during bar hours, but the figure turned the knob without a problem and pushed it open. They caught a glimpse of a set of stairs beyond the door and the form began to descend. It shut the door behind itself once again and left the vampire hunters alone in the space.

    Now what? Nadine asked quietly.

We have to follow it, he replied when he was sure the creature was out of earshot.

Nadine pursed her lips, looking unconvinced. There’s supposed to be more of them. We can’t just kill one if ten more are gonna show up and realize their buddy’s dead.

"They’re gonna follow it though! If we can get into hiding in the basement, it’ll be easier to see what’s going on when all
