About this ebook

Jack may have lost in love, but as Jill he might just have a shot at new love in the desert...

When Jack’s girlfriend Aimee ends their two-year relationship because he isn’t strong or manly enough for her in her eyes, it’s a devastating blow to his self-esteem. Instead of wallowing in his sadness, he picks himself up and catches a flight to sunny Palm Springs, where he hopes some desert hiking might clear his mind, help him heal, and toughen him up.
But Jack gets more than he bargained for from his trip: He takes a nap in a strange cave on a trail and wakes up disoriented and in the body of a woman, with a beautiful paramedic, Lisa, fussing over his (now her) health. Confused and scared, he gives his name as Jill and accepts her invitation to come home with her until he knows what’s going on.
Jack soon discovers that Lisa is into women, and in his new body as Jill he’s exactly her type... the two of them are irresistibly drawn to one another, and once Lisa shows Jill everything she and her sexy little desert town have to offer, Jill might be faced with the most difficult decision of her life: Does she even want to go back to being Jack?

    Chapter 1

Sweetie? Sweetie, can you hear me?

Exhaustion pulled at his eyelids, trying to convince him to keep them shut, though there wasn’t much persuasion needed. If he pretended he was asleep for long enough, they’d go away and leave him alone. Jack wasn’t sure why he was so tired, since he’d gotten plenty of sleep the night before, but he wasn’t ready to get up and break his comfortable state for some random voice he didn’t even recognize. Even Aimee had a difficult time getting up in the morning—sleep always dug its hooks into his mind like a trap and never liked letting him go without a fight.

After a few moments of blessed silence passed it was easy to assume they’d left him alone and he rolled over onto his side, searching for a more comfortable position. The stone floor wasn’t the most comfortable place he’d ever slept, and it was difficult to lie in a way that wasn’t putting painful pressure on his chest. Rocks were digging into him, no matter how he tried to lie, and Jack gave up after a few frustrating moments of tossing and turning. The question of how he’d managed to find a way to lie that wasn’t painful in the first place popped into his head; this floor hadn’t been so awful when he sat down to rest after a grueling few hours of hiking.

In fact, he’d never felt pressure on his chest like this while lying on his stomach. It felt like there were two rocks poking up into his pecs, sitting awkwardly and painfully- but when he shifted, he couldn’t find them to roll them out from underneath him. There was an added weight to his torso when he moved too, an odd off-balance movement that made him frown in his supposed sleep. In a daze he reached out towards where he’d left his pack, hoping he could grab some sort of t-shirt or something else soft to act as a cushion against the cold floor.

    You alright there, hun?

Jack’s eyes snapped open in surprise at the realization that whoever owned the voice was still there, watching him roll around on the floor to try and get comfortable again. A blush rose to his cheeks and he looked towards the person standing in front of him with her arms crossed, hoping to reassure her that he wasn’t some cave weirdo; just tired and somehow still desperate for a nap, even though he’d already been taking one. This trail was mostly deserted and had been the entire time he was on it, and he wondered how she’d even managed to find him here, in this cave slightly off the beaten path.

The woman was willowy and on the taller side, with cropped brown hair that framed her face with soft curls. She raised one eyebrow at him as he stared at her, clearly waiting for a response. Jack was a little busier staring at the mouth of the cave behind her, realizing that the sky was painted in brilliant orange and red brush strokes. The sun had apparently gone down while he’d been asleep- it must have been hours ago that he sat down in this cave for a nap. He was suddenly grateful for the woman finding him, afraid of the idea of waking up in the middle of the night in the wilderness.

I’m fine, thank you, He answered her, but the next words he
