About this ebook

A collection of poems about love and loss that provide hope and inspiration during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Adilynn’s Lullaby: Poems of Love & Loss is named for a poem the author wrote in June 2012 for his granddaughter, who was called to God’s side two weeks before she was due to be born. Shortly after that, the author’s 87-year old mother joined his granddaughter Adilynn in Heaven. In four months, the youngest and oldest members of the author’s family had passed away.

Life pretty much guarantees that if you love, you will eventually experience losses. Some losses are more devastating than others. Just as some loves are more profound than others. Each love and loss, however, presents challenges and opportunities to either wither or grow.

This collection of 31 poems about love and loss span the spectrum. From minor dalliances (I Just Came Here to Eat) to divorce (Hearts Don’t Break They Stretch), death (Adilynn’s Lullaby), and everything in between. Also included is an Author’s Remembrance section that gives the reader a peek into what motivated the author to put this collection together in his granddaughter’s name and in his mother’s memory.

    Adilynn's Lullaby - Chris Bliersbach

Adilynn’s Lullaby: Poems of Love & Loss is named after a poem I wrote in June 2012 for my granddaughter, Adilynn Meta Stout, who was called to God’s side two weeks before she was due to be born. Shortly after that, my 87-year old mother joined Adilynn in Heaven. In four months, the youngest and oldest members of my family had passed away.

From inconsequential dalliances (I Just Came Here to Eat) to divorce (Hearts Don’t Break They Stretch), death (Adilynn’s Lullaby), and everything in between. Also included is an Author’s Remembrance section that gives you a peek into what motivated me to put this collection together in Adilynn’s name and in my mother’s memory.

This book is dedicated to my daughter, Victoria Bliersbach, my mother, Ingeborg Bliersbach, and, of course, Adilynn.

    Adilynn’s Lullaby

Daddy, please don't look so sad

    Momma, please don't cry

Cause I'm in the arms of Jesus

    and he sings me lullabies

Please try not to question God

    Don't think he is unkind

Don't think he sent me to you

    And then changed his mind

You see, I'm a special child

    I am needed up above

I'm the special gift you gave Him

    A product of your love

I'll always be there with you

So watch the sky at night

Look for the brightest star and know

    That's my halos’ brilliant light

You'll see me in the morning frost

    That mists your windowpane

That's me in the summer showers

I'll be dancing in the rain

When you feel a gentle breeze

From a soft wind that blows

    Know that it's just me

Planting a kiss upon your nose

When you see a child playing

And your heart feels a tug

    Don't be sad, mommy

That's just me giving you a hug

So daddy don't look so sad

    And momma, please don't cry

I'm in the arms of Jesus

    And
