Heart Of A Woman - Antoinette Sumling

    Purple

    Yellow

    I must admit my dear

Before we met; I never knew

    Anyone who could wear colors

    Quite as wonderfully as you.

    So much style with every shade;

    It was admirable to me.

Each color and pattern you donned

    Reflected your dazzling personality.

Red and stripes, blue and polka dots

    With brilliance did you present

Purple, animal prints, green and flowers-

You made it look so elegant.

    Gold, orange, and yellow

Bright out the brightness of your eyes

Lovingly reminding me of the beauty

    Of the shimmering sunrise…

But then the sun set on you.

My heart broke within my chest

And I tried to lay to rest

Every color that reminded me of you.

    Every contrast that had luster;

    Keep ‘yellow’ in your heart."

I will never cease to miss you

But I’ll see you after a while

And now every time I wear yellow

    I smile a secret smile.

    Unaware

    Distractions, Distractions

    Just the enemy’s hidden attraction

Unaware we have the wrong reaction

Once we lose even a fraction

Some of the drive that brought us where

We were free and could bare

The burdens of others in our prayer

With our eyes off of God, again unaware,

Of momentums loss and now we lack

The push, the thrust we become slack

Now the race seems hard, now off track

We lose our ear for God who’d brought us back

From the dead, once again distracted

    Our lives no longer impacted

    By that Word which
