    Pattern 1

Cast on a multiple of 3. Knit without the edge stitches. Three-stitch repeat. Repeat rows: 3-11. Knit through the back leg, purl as follows: With the working yarn in front of the stitch, insert the right needle through the stitch from back to front, then move the working yarn under the right needle and pull it with the needle through the stitch. Note: The purl stitch that is worked this way sets up the knit stitch to be knitted through the back leg.

Note: This pattern knits differently: The width knits vertically. Cast on the number of stitches required for the height of your work. Knit the required width vertically and then turn your work horizontally. Knit tightly. Needles: U.S. no. 4 (3.5
