THE CHANNEL Island cast-on technique is a long-tail method which produces a cast-on edge with a decorative, bead-like appearance. It has long been popular with gansey knitters, not only for its attractive look, but also because it gives a stretchy edge which is robust, as it is worked with three strands of yarn. Its appearance is reminiscent of the picot cast-on, but it’s much less time-consuming to work.
