    It’s A…

Deep breaths, Shady, said Kingston in a calm and tranquil voice. You’re doing good.

Whose idea was it for me to have the baby in the bathtub again? groaned Shade. Shhhiiiidddd! It doesn’t seem to make a difference because this hurts like hell!

I know, baby, but you need to stay calm and breathe, Shady, mon, Kingston advised. You should have given me some loving last night, and maybe he would have popped out by now. Shade side eyed Kingston as another contraction hit her.

Ahhhh! shouted Shade. Why did I agree to this shit! Why did I even let you get me pregnant? Shade leaned forward and grasped her stomach as their midwife, Theresa wiped Shade’s forehead.

You’re doing fine, Shade, Theresa reassured her. Just continue to do the breathing we practiced. Kingston is doing an excellent job with his breaths. Kingston smiled, and Shade glared at him, not amused with the situation.

So maybe his ass should be the one having this baby, mumbled Shade. He should be able to do an excellent job breathing! He doesn’t have to push a big headed ass baby out of his pussy! A whole person!

Shady, you’re creating a negative aura around our son’s birth, mon, Kingston frowned. With all that has happened since you’ve been pregnant, we need to create a more tranquil environment for our child to be born into.

I agree, Shade, Theresa chimed in. Shade wasn’t trying to hear what the two of them were talking about. Giving birth was very painful, and she could only imagine what it was going to feel like when he actually crowned and started to come out. Take a deep breath, Shade.

I’m trying, but it feels like he’s trying to push himself out, Shade groaned.

That’s good, Theresa smiled. That means he’s ready to come out. Let me feel around to see how far you’ve dilated. Shade cut her eyes at Theresa.

I don’t want you digging your fingers all up in me, snapped Shade. It already hurts, Shade grunted. And my husband is the only person who has the right to stick his fingers up in my pussy, besides me! Three more contractions hit Shade hard.

Shady, cut it out, mon, smirked Kingston. You know Theresa has to do the checks.

Sit down, Kingston, and let Shade lay against you, instructed Theresa. We’re going to use the tranquility of the water to calm Shade. Let’s do our breathing. He sat down in the tub and eased Shade down on his lap. He led Shade in her breathing and rubbed her back firmly. Shade settled on top of his legs and eased herself against him. He reached over and grabbed a washcloth off the side of the tub. She laid her head against his chest, and he wiped the beads of sweat off her brow.

You might as well get use to this, said Kingston. He wiped across her neck with the washcloth, getting all of the sweat. I plan on knocking at least three more babies up in there.

You have plans to do it, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen, Shade shot back. This is no walk in the park, and it hurts like hell! Shade started blowing hard and fast when Theresa put her hand inside of her to check her cervix.

The first baby is always the hardest, Kingston explained. Mary gave Cynthia quite the time when she was born, mon.

Oh, oh, oh, said Theresa happily. It’s time! The baby is crowning and ready to come out! It is very important that you listen to my words, Shade. Shade nodded her head up and down as another set of contractions hit her.

Ahhhhhh! screamed Shade as Kingston held her tightly against him.

What is going on in there? shouted Big Mama as she beat on the bathroom door. Let me in this bathroom so I can see what’s going on! All this water birth shit has got me nervous!

Everything is fine, Big Mama, mon, shouted Kingston. My son is almost here!

Well, my nosy ass wanted to see him come into the world! Kingston and Theresa laughed while Shade moaned and groaned in pain.

Why didn’t you have some drugs for me? asked Shade. I heard the epidural is the best thing popping when you’re having a baby.

It’s not good for you or the baby, Theresa assured her. It actually slows down your labor. And you’re ready to have this baby, so let’s stop whining and bite down, Shade. When I tell you to push, you need to take a deep breath and push as hard as you can. Are you ready?

Are you ready, baby? asked Kingston.

I’m ready! grunted Shade in pain. All she wanted was to get this baby out of her; to meet the little guy who’s been causing her so much pain and gas for the last nine months.

Palms, did I mention how beautiful you look? asked George nonchalantly. Time has done you justice, mon. Palms looked over at George and smirked.

Thank you, George, she replied. But I have a bone to pick with you.

Why… I didn’t cause you no pain or problems, Palms. All I’ve ever tried to do is be helpful. Palms cut her eyes at George.

That’s funny! she scoffed. If you were trying to help me, why didn’t you tell me Michael was still in Kingston? Maybe I wanted to go to Jamaica and start a new life with my husband. George laughed.

It seems like Michael is da person you should be talkin’ to, not me, mon. He was da one who chose to keep secrets from you, not me, George explained. I asked Michael if he wanted to reach out to you when I realized who Shade was when Chauncey kidnapped her. He was da one who asked me to train her and help her to escape. I love you, my dear, but my loyalty is wit Michael, mon.

Humph. Were your loyalties with Michael when you were fucking me? smirked Palms. I could recall many nights you came to my room and fucked me senseless. She turned to face George so that he could see here physique dead on. The knitted skirt she wore clung to her hips like skin. She had on a cashmere cowl neck sweater that was very giving in the cleavage. With the idea of Michael coming to the states and potentially being back in the picture, she made sure her feminine side showed through her cut body. She had adjusted back into society and let go of a few old things that hindered her progress forward.

But ya know ya enjoyed me coming to ya bed, mon! I remember how ya used to take all of me dick down ya troat, George smirked. And never choked on it, mon. I bet sometimes you dream of sucking my dick in ya sleep, don’t you, mon. I know I do. Palms glared at George in disbelief. He came for her in a sinister way, and George was fully aware that Palms wanted Michael.

You know what, George, you’re absolutely right. This isn’t my fight to have with you, Palms admitted. This is a discussion for Michael and I to have.

I’m glad ya realized dis, mon, George smirked. He hit his cigar and studied Palms. Her large breasts and firm ass looked quite appetizing to him. His nature started to rise just thinking about all the times she shared his bed. Let me ask you a question, Palms. Do ya eva tink about when you were mine? Palms looked back at him strangely.

Yes, but that was a long time ago. And I buried the feelings that I had for you a long time ago, but I haven’t buried my feelings for Michael. George puffed his cigar as he continued to study Palms.

The baby is here! shouted Mary in excitement. And his eyes are as blue as the sky! Come both of you, quickly!

    My grandson! beamed Palms.

I neva pictured you as the baby type, cackled George.

I never pictured you as a—

Come along you two, asserted Mary. We need to go meet our prince!

You said dat boy got blue eyes, mon? George called. Dat baby’s daddy is a white mon!

Mary quickly walked up the steps, and Palms followed closely behind her. Mary overheard their exchange before she came rushing down the steps. She knew George still had a sweet spot for Palms, but she’d be damned if she would allow Palms to step in and take her husband, yet again.

It appears dat you and my husband were having a serious conversation, Mary fished. Palms smirked as she came to the top of the steps and stopped.

Naaah, it wasn’t nothing really, Palms quipped. He’s just trying to get some pussy for old times’ sake. She hunched her shoulders and walked away, while Mary stood stewing at her response.

Palms rushed into the bedroom to see her new grandson. She wanted to see these blue eyes that Mary made a fuss about. Palms hoped Liz or Cynthia didn’t place a voodoo curse on her grandbaby. She would hate to have to resurrect Liz to kill her ass again, and she hoped her sister wouldn’t do something so vicious to a baby.

Where’s my grandson? beamed Palms. She walked over to the bed where Shade was nursing her son.

I would like for you to meet Kingston David Thomas Jr., beamed Shade.

    KJ for short, smiled Kingston.

That’s cute, Palms smiled. Who thought of that?

Amyra, Kingston replied. She said that it would be confusing for Shady when she called one of us because we both will answer.

That makes sense to me, Palms replied. She walked up to the edge of the bed to see the new bundle of joy. Shade glowed as her newborn suckled at her breast. He was a beautiful caramel color with short hair that stuck up.

My baby gone have some bad hair like his daddy, Shade complained. It already looks like cotton.

Shut up, girl, talking about my great grandbaby, snapped Big Mama. She laughed and rocked in the chair as she went through the pictures that she took. I came in at the last minute and got all the pictures.

We recorded the birth if you want to watch, Palms, Kingston explained. It was beautiful, watching my son be born. Theresa cleaned him off and took him over to the sink. He wouldn’t open his eyes and didn’t fuss. I walked over to the sink and watched her rinse him off under the faucet. She moved him under the water, and he didn’t cough or put up a fight.

What’s this I hear about him having blue eyes? asked Palms. Kingston smiled.

I was getting around to that. Theresa lifted KJ up out the water and his eyes shot open. They were light like the sky, and he stared at me as she handed him to me. I stared at my boy in awe because I know he was kissed by God. What are the odds of us having a baby with blue eyes? My son was anointed by the angels, Kingston declared.

Yes, he is, Son, smiled Mary. It is definitely a blessing from Jesus Christ the Lord!

I say its genetics, said Palms sarcastically.

Me too, Mama, smirked Shade. And my baby hasn’t opened his eyes since he looked at me and latched on to my breast.

I’m serious about this being genetics. My great grandmother was a white woman with light blue eyes and long blonde hair, Palms explained.

That’s why Shade got all that hair, said Big Mama. And you got that mixed people hair too. I thought you was a white girl when Michael first brought you home.

Well, all I know is, people better not be staring at my baby all crazy and shit, declared Shade. Because I’ll fuck somebody up about mine!

A Woman Scorned… Feel Her Wrath

Cynthia walked off of the enormous barge, tired and beaten down from this past week. She’d watched her niece kill Chauncey to save Kingston’s life. Then she watched Shade take down the woman who tried to kill her, which was bittersweet. There was so much anger and rage inside of Cynthia; all she wanted to do was bring her lover back. Cynthia managed to get Chauncey’s body out of the warehouse with the help of a few of his guards. A hearse was on hand to pick up the body and transport it to the mortuary. It would be stored in a chiller until arrangements were made to transport him back to Jamaica. It would be a wasted expense to fly him back to Kingston, Jamaica because Cynthia didn’t have access to Chauncey’s money, and her funds were limited since the children had been living with Kingston. And there was no way that Kingston was going to pay for Chauncey’s body to be shipped, so she had to do the next best thing.

What are you doing here? asked Cynthia. She looked tired and worn down from the long boat ride home. Her neck was still hurt from the attempt on her life. Liz thought she’d killed her, but Cynthia knew how to play dead rather well. There were many nights when Chauncey would be drunk and angry, so he roughed her up a bit. I don’t have a ting to say to ya… so go on bout ya way, mon.

I am deeply sorry to hear about Chauncey, mon, proclaimed Solomon, Liz’s father. Me and my wife are truly grateful for da generosity dat Chauncey bestowed upon us.

Wat are ya talkin bout, old man? questioned Cynthia. I don’t know shit ‘bout Chauncey bein’ generous, mon! He was a rude boy, crude and didn’t give a fuck ‘bout anyone but himself. So go on, mon, and claim your daughter’s body. George had a change of heart and was gracious enough ta pay for everyone’s body ta get shipped home. Bury your daughter and go back to ya miserable lives as servants to da king!

Why should we go back ta work for dat man? His son was da reason why both our daughter and son-in-law are dead, retorted Ellie, Liz’s mother. I spit on his name! And da day he gave Liz’s hand to Winston, I knew he thought Kingston was too good for our baby! Cynthia stared at them lethargically. She hadn’t eaten much on the voyage home because sleeping at the bottom of the barge had made her green around the gills. She especially didn’t want to hear this mess because she was the one who married Kingston instead of Liz.

You look exhausted, mon, said Solomon. Let us take ya home and feed you. You can take a nice relaxing bath while Ellie prepares a meal for you, mon.

I don’t need ta go to ya house, mon! I have my own house… and now dat Chauncey’s dead, I will be takin’ ova his estate. I made a few moves to solidify my rightful place. We were married days before Kingston’s wife killed Chauncey, Cynthia explained.

Shade killed Chauncey? gasped Solomon in disbelief. I tought Kingston did, mon!

Well, you tought wrong, you old fool! Why would ya assume dat Kingston was da killa? Cynthia pondered. How did ya even come ta know dat Chauncey was dead, mon?

We got a call from Liz. She said dat Chauncey and Kingston were going ta fight to da death in front of deir father. Also, she told us dat Kingston locked his wife in her quarters so she wouldn’t see what happened. We got a call from Stacy who told us dat dey both were dead. Cynthia smirked.

Well, it didn’t work, mon, because da bitch came in with guns’ a blazin’ and shot Chauncey down, scoffed Cynthia. She looked over and saw the deck hands pushing Chauncey’s
