    Introduction

    In each chapter, you will learn about the processes that happen in your mind with each thing you want to improve on. Some things do not have tips on how to improve, you just have to find what works for you based on your new found understanding of the subject. Those that can be improved in some way have helpful tips attached.

    Chapter 1: Learning About Memory

    The best way to improve your memory is to understand how it works.

    Memory is the space in the mind where information is stored, and used from there. It can be encoded and decoded all from the one area of the brain that controls it.

    Imagine that memory is a library of all the information that you have ever encountered in your life. Libraries often have rotating books. Your memory as well has rotating information. Just like libraries, the information that is rotated is based on the importance of said information.

    For example, if you are not going to see a person ever again, you will only need to know their name for the duration of the conversation you are having with them, and then you don't need to remember it any further. This would use your short term memory. However, if you work with someone every day, you would need to know their name for a long amount of time. Therefore, you would commit their name to your long-term memory.

    There are two forms of memory. The first form, which is called declarative, is where you physically commit something to memory. If you see something that you deem is important, you make yourself remember. Example, repeating a phone number in your head several times until you remember it.

    Then there is a non-declarative memory. This is the memory you have no recollection of trying to remember. There are some things that your brain subconsciously remembers, such as street names as you pass by them.

    Memory can be sometimes faulty. It is not perfect. There are lots of factors and variables that affect your memory such as the attention you provide to your different stimulus when trying to remember something and the amount of important you see on something.
