    This week, I’m quitting.

    Reema helped Billy get away before the guards could notice him, and then she gently picked up her torch, careful not to upset the nest inside as the mother gull eyed her suspiciously. Reema resumed her spot on the pedestal just as the sun’s orange glow crept over the horizon.

    A few hours later, as the island filled with tourists. Reema noticed Billy climbing onto one of the ferries. As it left, he leaning over the railing, his eyes gazing longingly up at Reema, like a reverse Leonardo DiCaprio. She watched him until the ship sailed out of view, and heaved a soft, imperceptible sigh.

    Mommy, I just saw her breathe!

    Reema clenched her teeth. Damn it, not again!

    Jimmy, stop messing around and just sit still. I’m trying to take a picture.

    Just one more week, Reema told herself. She was about to begin meditating when suddenly Reema noticed a commotion in the corner of her eye.
