The Case of Slicer - Ash Haq
Chapter 1: Diego Gets Promoted
I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride,
said Chad as Nicole and Diego held hands and said their vows.
With that Diego lifted the veil over Nicole’s face and then they shared their first kiss as husband and wife to seal the deal. Nicole and Diego were married.
Six Years Later
Diego was sitting in his office, talking on the phone with his wife, Nicole. That day was Nicole’s day off.
All of a sudden there was a knock on the door. Come in!
yelled Diego, Oops! Sorry, hun! I didn’t mean to yell in your ear. Listen, I gotta go. Okay? I love you. Bye.
The door opened and an officer walked in. It was Kody.
Oh, hi, Kody. How are you doing?
asked Diego as Kody came in.
Nothing much,
said Kody, Listen, Paul wants to see you for a minute. He says it’s important. If you ask me, it sounds like he’s just about to fire you.
Oh really.
Yeah. You remember how you used to be one of his favorite agents? And how he used to talk on and on about how he’s never had a good agent such as you?
No and yes.
Well I better get going. Tell me what he wanted to tell you when he’s done with you, okay?
Okay.
Then with that Kody left the room.
After a few minutes Diego went to Paul’s office. He knocked on the door. Who is it?
came Paul’s voice from inside.
Diego, Sir,
said Diego.
Come in.
Diego went inside and sat down.
You wanted to see me, Sir?
asked Diego.
Yes,
said Paul.
What about?
"Ahem. Well, Diego, I have some good news and some bad news to tell you."
Oh.
Do you want the good news first or the bad news?
Good news first, I guess.
Okay. Diego, you have been promoted.
Promoted? As what or to where?
That’s the bad news. See, Diego, I brought you here because Nicole needed a partner. And that was only for a limited time.
What? Do you mean I have to move?
Yes.
But what about my family? Nicole and the kids?
Well...
Well what? I can’t just pick up and leave. Especially Nicole can’t. Not unless she got promoted as well.
Diego, you have to move to Planet Storm.
What? Paul, listen. You can’t get me to go unless you promote Nicole to go there also.
I know that, Diego. I’ve tried and tried to get them to want her too, but they don’t. I’m sorry, Diego. They wouldn’t take her.
But why?
They said something about years of experience and qualifications.
Well, get in touch with them and tell them that I said that they won’t get me without Nicole, okay?
Okay, I’ll try.
Okay.
By the way, how is your family?
They’re good.
Tell me again, how many kids do you guys have now?
Sure. We have six kids. Two girls and four boys.
Okay. What are their names?
Well first there’s Ellena, she’s six years old. Second are the twins, Sammie and Max, they are five years old. Third are the second pair of twins, Jalin and Jamie, they’re four years old. And last is Ashley, she was just born three weeks ago.
Quite a family you got there. Do they go to school yet?
Yes. Ellena is in first grade, Sammie and Max are in kindergarten, Jalin and Jamie are in pre-school, and of course Ashley has a couple of years before she starts.
Okay.
Oh! And speaking of Jalin and Jamie, I gotta go pick them up! Paul, you don’t mind if I go get them and bring them back here, do you?
Of course not.
Thanks! Oh! And don’t forget to talk to the people at the Storm Planet about Nicole.
Okay, Diego.
See ya!
Diego jumped up out of his seat and ran out of Paul’s office.
Chapter 2: Nicole gets a Visit from Some Friends
Nicole was sitting in a rocking chair, rocking her three week old baby, Ashley, to sleep. She stopped rocking once she realized Ashley was asleep. She then got up and walked up stairs to her room and laid Ashley in the bassinet beside the bed.
Nicole started to lay down on her and Diego’s bed. That is until the doorbell rang. She groaned, and then looked to the computer across the room. She got up and walked to it. She typed on some keys. On the screen it showed who was at the front door. It was none other than Ashney, Chad, Daniel, Amanda, and Ashen.
Nicole smiled and pulled out a microphone and said into it, I’ll be right down!
Nicole ran down the stairs to the front door. She unlocked it and then opened it. She greeted everybody and let them in. Shh...I just got Ashley to go to sleep,
she said.
Hey, can we at least see the little tyke?
asked Ashen.
Sure you can,
said Nicole, But be very quiet. She’s not a hard sleeper.
Like you?
asked Daniel.
Ha-ha. Very funny,
said Nicole, sarcastically.
She led them all up to her and Diego’s room.
She’s right over there,
Nicole whispered.
They all walked over to where Nicole told them.
Aww, look at her,
said Ashney as she looked at Ashley in the bassinet.
She’s so pretty,
said Amanda.
She looks just like you,
said Daniel.
Yeah,
said Ashen, She doesn’t look anything like Diego.
Nicole smiled.
Hey, Nicole, when are you going to get her baptized? You know I can do it,
said Chad.
Yeah, I know,
said Nicole, You baptized all the others.
Chad chuckled.
Oh, I wish she wasn’t asleep,
said Ashney, I would really much like to hold her.
Well, if y’all would have come a couple of moments earlier maybe you could have,
said Nicole.
By the way, Nicole,
said Ashen, If you need me to pick up Ellena, Sammie, and Max, I will.
Yeah?
said Nicole, Well you’re in luck. See Diego’s going to be too busy to pick them up. So...if you would like, you can.
"Sure, what
