About this ebook

Contemporarily, the gospel has been tagged with different meanings and definitions. There have been different kind of humanistic perspective to the gospel, and from divers human formulations, we can find the gospel of prosperity, the gospel of deliverance, the gospel of healing, the gospel of breakthrough, the gospel of 'you will make it in life', and so on. Many people define these activities as the gospel.

Sadly, in the Christian world we have charlatans participating as wolves in sheep's clothing who are hiding behind these activities disseminating false gospel scripturally known as another gospel; the gospel which focuses on the satisfaction of the belly leaving the soul hungering for the word of God.

The mission of the false gospel is to divert peoples' attention from the savior and pushes them to focus on material things.

Surprisingly most people have embraced teachings from the false teachers and prophets.

This current wave has seen people losing their hard-earned money in the hands of false teachers, who are manipulating innocent souls to give so as to receive what God has already made available freely to humankind through his death, burial, and resurrection.

It is wrong to pile misery, sorrow, and anguish on innocent souls whom Christ died for, through the instrumentality of another gospel to satisfy personal agenda.

Remaining silent under such circumstances can unfortunately, encourage shameless charlatans in their malicious, wicked ways.

Indeed, and as Richard Edelman said, to be silent is sometimes to be complicit.

And brother Paul said to Timothy we must have a reason to defend what we believe.

The cure for deception is the accurate, precise and revealed knowledge of Christ Jesus who is God packaged in human flesh to save humanity.

Here is a timely antidote which will dismantle deception, and equip you with revealed knowledge of who you are in Christ; what you can do through Christ, and what Christ has done for you through His death, burial and resurrection.

In this book you will discover: -

  • The Gospel is not about what you can do for God but what God has done for you.
  • The glory that followed the resurrection.
  • The cross is the basis for sin forgiveness.
  • The gospel gives the righteousness of God.
  • The gospel is the only cure for sin.
  • Sanctification is not a process.
  • Faith through the gospel.
  • The Gospel gives peace.
  • The judgment of the world was through the gospel.
  • How to spot the false gospel.

    Important

If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, and your faith also is in vain. (1Co 15:14) WEBA

The word is preaching kērugma; a proclamation especially or specifically of the gospel.

    What is preached?

(Rom 16:25) Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

(1Co 1:18) For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

    (1Co 1:23) But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

Not all that is preached is actually ‘preaching’. Preaching becomes preaching only when the content and context of the message is Christ. Preaching is specific. Any preaching that is not the preaching of Christ’ resurrection is a fantasy

Christ is the fundamental message of the whole Bible. Christ is the beginning, Christ is the centre, and Christ is the end.

The writer of Psalms records, ‘’Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me." (Psa 40:7)

The volume of the book has one intent; to testify Christ Jesus. From Genesis to Revelation, the message is Christ Jesus.

Therefore, preaching is simply an act of reporting or telling others about the death, burial and resurrection of Christ Jesus who took the sin of the world to the cross and faced death in order to save humanity from sin and death.

Unless otherwise indicated, scripture quotations are from The King James Bible, Good News Bible, Literal Translation of the Holy Bible

    ⇝Chapter 1⇜

THE GOSPEL IS NOT ABOUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR GOD BUT WHAT GOD HAS DONE FOR YOU?

In modern days, a lot of what most people preach is not the gospel; it is all about what God will do if you have something to offer to Him. If you pray hard, a prayer is popularly known as ‘operation PUSH’ (pray until something happens), then God will answer your prayers.

But it is clear in the scriptures that it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. (Isa 65:24)

The gospel of "if you do, then God will do" renders the cross useless and irrelevant.

    How?

Logically, it gives the impression that God has done nothing and His ‘coming to earth to save men’ was nothing. So if we do; He will. He waits for our performance first before He does anything. Our actions determine His action. This is not true at all.

Did we pray for him to create the human race? No! Who prayed for Jesus to die for our sins? None! He did not wait for us to be righteous but He came to rescue us whilst we were ungodly and dead in trespasses.

The true gospel is not about what God will do but what God has done for us.

(Isa 12:1) A day is coming when people will sing, "I praise you, LORD! You were angry with me, but now you comfort me and are angry
