    About the Author

Why you are So Easily Distracted

Today’s world is fast-paced and complex. We are all overloaded with tasks, and many of us face immense competition at work or school. With too much on our plates, it can become difficult to focus on the task at hand. When we lose focus we do a lousy job. So we trade off efficiency in the pursuit of productivity, without realizing that efficiency itself is a key ingredient to productivity. When you do a lousy job at something because of a lack of focus, oftentimes you are forced to do it again. It would have been more productive to have focused and done it right the first time.

In addition, some of us are natural daydreamers. We don’t need any encouragement to become distracted – it happens naturally. All it takes is one interesting thought to side-track us off on some mental adventure and we miss everything that is happening
