I am an advocate of simple habits and living, meditation and Buddhism. I believe these are the basic parts in attaining happiness in life no matter what situation a person is in. Spirituality without religion is a personal quest for everyone. It is our inner journey in finding our Selves without the outside conditions of society. This is the start of our personal transformation, finding the authentic self and accepting who we really are no matter what. By doing so we become aware of our feelings, emotions and thoughts. Like most people I have been through the motions of expectations, frustrations and the seeming lack of control and destination. Discovering the path to illumination can be daunting, and to some, other worldly. But it’s not, it is just a matter of consciousness and being present in the moment. From that presence we bring ourselves to the true path of transforming ourselves and our lives. In the book I want to share the paths of transformation, the ways of resolving everyday situations we find ourselves in. This is to bring down the authentic Self into the practical side of living. Once the Self is fully out and experienced in our daily lives, we begin to transform the society we are in and our environment. Part of the book are the different meditation techniques, which I have researched and practiced over the years. Choosing one technique is like choosing the boat to cross the river. It is my honor to accompany you unconditionally to take the reins of your destiny and achieve true success and happiness within your heart.

A MINDFUL LIFE PROJECT
vida-verde200What is Mindfulness
The complexity of the concept of Mindfulness
is the reason why it hasn’t been translated to many languages. It’s often defined as the capacity to pay full attention to the present moment, without judging the internal or external experiences that surround us. The objective one aspires is to achieve a state of Full Attention in which we can relate to those happenings that occur inside ourselves, without judging them positively or negatively, without rating what you perceive but accepting our emotions without trying to control them or avoid them, reducing the anxiety or frustration of trying to avoid a situation that is not possible to modify. It’s a meditation technique that comes from the oriental culture, more specifically from Zen Buddhism, that helps relax our mind and gives us the direct benefits in our organism establishing a relationship with the body.
The growing interest on the practice of mindfulness in the last few years has motivated to do several studies about its effects in health as well as physically, mentally and emotionally. Physically, it reduces blood pressure, cortisol and increases the immune system. Cognitively increases the capacity of attention and diminishes the ruminations, while emotionally, it improves resilience (the capacity to recover) and reduces reactivity (the involuntary emotional response to a situation). Even though these studies are preliminary, they allow one to glimpse the powerful health benefits, like the capacity to improve the ability to manage emotionally complicated situations and increasing self-love by modifying the way in which we see ourselves. In this moment, mindfulness (meditation) is been applied successfully on many psychiatric disorders (depression, anxiety, obsessive disorder, post-traumatic stress, chronic pain where it works very well) and is one of the therapies been most investigated to an international level.
Mindfulness took relevance inside psychological therapies mainly because of two reasons: on one side, because of its important influence in the construction of personality, and on the other hand, because of analyzing the circumstances that surround us as well as our own feelings without prejudice or previous assessments, which diminishes anxiety and depression.
For all these reasons, many researchers consider mindfulness not only as a therapy or meditation technique, but also as a philosophy or life itself.
Scientific Foundations
For years, psychology has been studying meditation as a method to appease down the jarring effects of stress with the means to reveal the brain mechanism that explains
