My Thoughts On Modern Life - Karun Kris
Introduction
Back in the day, our lives were rather simple. Simple not in the sense that it was easy, but rather it was straightforward: Survive and take care of your tribe. If you get food, water and shelter, it was a good day for all.
Survival was the goal and there were uncertainties around it. For example, while you are fast asleep at night, a tiger might snatch away your child. Or the mango tree that you depended on for the season didn’t bear fruits. Those were serious problems back in the day.
Today, it is safe to say that for the majority of us, our survival is sorted out. If you are reading this book then it means that you’re doing all right. You’ve got everything you need to survive. Your ancestors would have been amazed at you.

Now that we’ve solved our biggest problem, we’ve come up with hundreds of other problems and have glorified each one of them. This is the one liner of the situation faced by the average modern man.

This small book is divided into 5 parts, namely: Perception, Awareness, Motivation, The Bad Side and The Brain. Words like perception and awareness have standard meanings, but we will change them up a bit in this book.
Perception in simple words is the way you see the world and what you make out of it. Awareness has different meanings in different contexts, but for this book, we will define it as the way you see yourself. Motivation is about taking action which could be an outward action or an inward action. The Bad Side is a collection of thoughts and emotions which prevents us from taking action. Finally, The Brain is the connector of the above four. Without the brain, we wouldn’t give a damn about any of this.
These five parts make up our modern life today. Each one of them plays a crucial role in enhancing the
