With her mate, Thorne, keeping secrets and her familiar, Bruce, driving her insane, Wicked is on the edge. Skinning a panther shifter is the same as skinning a cat….right?

    Chapter 1

Wicked waddled into the nursery, her hand on her protruding stomach. She was near the end of her pregnancy and couldn’t wait to purge these babies into the world. Crude way of thinking, but she was so sick of being pregnant. At first, it was great, but carrying two humans inside her, growing quicker than an average fetus was too much.

Glancing at one of the cribs, she frowned when a furry paw rose up, hitting the dangling crib toy above it before disappearing. Rolling her eyes, she sighed. Bruce, get out of the crib, she ordered, looking away to the colorful paintings she had created on the walls. She knew she was having a boy and a girl, so one side was painted with cute dinosaurs while the other was decorated with precious little fairy scenes.

Oh, hey, fatty. Bruce leaped up, looking guilty as hell. How are you feeling today?

Useless, tired, fatigued, my boobs hurt, and I have to pee again, Wicked replied, glancing his way. Sorry you asked?

You have no idea. Bruce jumped from the crib onto the floor. So let me ask, why isn’t my room all fancied up like this? Don’t you care about me?

What? Wicked made her way to one of the two rocking chairs and slowly sat down.

Bruce sauntered toward the other chair and leaped up to sit down. You’ve done all this... His paw swept the room. ...for creatures you’ve never met and me, well, I have a small white room with a lumpy pet bed.

First of all, if you call my children creatures one more time you won’t need a room. Wicked glared at him. And you’re lucky you’ve got a room. Thorne wanted to keep you outside.

Sorry, rug rats. Bruce grimaced, then continued. And really? Thorne thinks I’m an outside alley cat?

Wicked rolled her eyes as she leaned her head back and slowly closed them.

Guess I know where my new litter box is, Bruce remarked snidely. If I perch just right, I can drop a load into his boots.

And I’ll make sure to bury you deep enough that no predators dig up your corpse. Wicked kept her eyes closed, exhaustion overtaking her. If there is anything left of you.

Thorne’s sister likes me. Bruce’s voice hinted at becoming a pitiful feel sorry for me tone. Even though you and Thorne treat me horribly.

Wicked slowly opened her eyes to glance at Bruce, who kept peeking her way. Horribly?

Yes, horribly. He narrowed his eyes. Wanting to keep me outside like some flea-infested street cat and you... being all fat and bitchy, would probably have let him toss me into the streets.

Fat and bitchy? Wicked frowned, then quickly twirled her finger and smiled when Bruce’s furry stomach protruded as if he held a litter of baby Bruces in his tummy. Then his paws swelled up.

    Bruce shrieked. What the...?

Now who’s fat and bitchy? With a laugh, Wicked sat up.

What did he do now? Thorne’s deep voice took her attention away from Bruce, who was staring down at his deformed furry body in horror.

Called me fat and bitchy, Wicked replied, then tried once to get out of the rocking chair but failed. Before she could attempt it again, Thorne was before her and pulled her up gently. Thank you.

Oh, so you’re nice to him, Bruce spat.

He hasn’t called me fat and bitchy. Wicked wrapped her arms around Thorne’s waist the best she could.

Want me to eat him? Thorne’s voice soothed her. It had a unique way of doing that. I can change into my panther real quick. I’m sure he’d enjoy it. I know I sure as hell will.

Oh, ha freaking ha. Very funny. Bruce jumped from the chair, then fell as his stomach hit first, sending him rolling. He had a hard time standing on his swollen paws. Okay, Wicked. I get the point. Change me back now.

No, I don’t think so. Wicked sighed, laying her head against Thorne’s chest. "Maybe
