    Wicked Chaos - Teresa Gabelman

    Chapter 1

Wicked collapsed on the bed, closed her eyes and prayed to the Goddess for sleep to come swiftly. Between the twins, Jamison and Rose, as well as the tattoo shop, she was a mess with no sleep. Finally, they were both down for a nap at the same time and she was taking advantage of it.

Her eyes, as heavy as they were, popped open. Glancing at the baby monitor she frowned.

Jamison you are going to be a mighty warlock. Bruce’s voice came over the intercom. Forget that Shifter shit….

Sighing with a curse Wicked crawled out of bed, heading toward the nursery to kill a cat.

Stopping at the door she saw Bruce sitting not on Jamison’s crib, but Rose’s.

Now Rose, you are going to be the most powerful witch in the land. Bruce whispered as he perched above her little sleeping form. Maybe even more powerful than your mother which I know would make her proud. You I would like to see shift into a deadly panther just to keep those boys away. If not, then Uncle Bruce will show you how to take off their pee pee with one swipe of your—

Bruce. Wicked hissed as quietly as she could. What are you doing?

Bruce jumped falling off the crib, but of course, landed on his feet. He glared back at her with a shush. You’ll wake the brats. He hissed back walking toward her, then moved out of the room.

Ah, I wasn’t the one talking to them. Wicked closed the door leaving it open just a crack and followed Bruce toward the kitchen.

I thought I heard a noise and was just checking. Bruce huffed over his shoulder at her.

Wicked rolled her eyes as she grabbed a water out of the refrigerator. The noise was you yacking their ears off.

Turning toward her Bruce opened his mouth to say something, then shut it as he stared up at her. You look like diaper shit.

Diaper shit? Wicked said before she could pull it back. The things Bruce came up with threw her especially when she was as tired as she was.

Yeah, diaper shit. Bruce gave her a nod. Never seen anything like what comes out of those brats and well, you look worse.

Stop calling my children brats or I’ll have Thorne eat you. Wicked chose to ignore his crude remarks about her looks because he was probably right. She looked and felt like diaper shit. Plus I heard you and I know you would lay your life down for Rose and Jamison. You aren’t fooling anyone.

Hey if they have to be around, then I may as well fill them with my wisdom. Bruce puffed out his cat chest. I don’t want you raising a little momma’s boy and a sissy girl.

Bruce go away. Wicked finished her water, then headed back to her room. Thorne had a call about a rental property and had to leave, she had hoped he would be back so she really could get a good deep sleep, even for a half an hour.

Just as she lay down again one of the babies’ cries reached her ears. Laying still she chanted another silent prayer to the Goddess that it was just a restless cry and would go no further. Her prayers went unanswered.

Wicked. Bruce’s loud voice came through the intercom. We got a number 2 in progress. Wicked? Do you hear me? Is this thing working? She heard him hitting on the intercom. Putting her face into her pillow she screamed, not once, not twice, but three times before once again crawling off the bed.

Standing she took a deep breath, thought about using her magic for only a second before heading back out of the room. She promised herself not to use her magic for any mothering duties. She could do this without her magic, dammit.

Walking back into the nursery she glared at Bruce who had put a clothes pin on his nose. He pointed his furry paw toward Jamison who was fussing.

I seriously think you need to take the boy to the doctor. Bruce’s voice sounded nasally with the clothes pin. That is some toxic shit.

Wicked started to say something, but the closer she got to the crib the smell grew stronger to the point she almost gagged. Bruce was absolutely right. The smell was toxic, so toxic in fact she waved her finger and used her magic which at this point she hadn’t done.

Good choice. Bruce said removing the clothes pin, testing the air with a few sniffs.

Picking up Jamison, Wicked stared down at her and Thorne’s son. You want to see a cat’s tail on fire my handsome little boy?

Oh, that’s real good mothering. Bruce snorted, then frowned when Jamison made a throaty noise as if saying yes. With a huff he hurried out of the room leaving them alone.

Walking over to Rose’s crib she stared down at her sleeping daughter and sighed. How lucky she was. In all honesty it didn’t matter how tired she was, or the times she felt like a total failure as a mother and wife, Wicked wouldn’t trade her life for anything.

Gently touching Rose’s forehead she smiled, then walked over to one of the two rocking chairs and sat with Jamison. Holding him close she rocked slowly humming a made-up tune. Touching her son’s soft cheek, she smiled as he tried to focus on
