The Grey LADY
The phone rang, startling me into wakefulness. I glanced at the clock – 3.33 in the morning.
‘Hello?’ It was my son Mark.
‘Mum, don’t worry, but Jack’s in hospital. He has a high temperature, but you have to be careful with kids, don’t you?’
Jack, my beautiful grandson, was only eight months old, but he already had my heart firmly in his chubby little grasp.
‘I’ll be right there, Mark.’
