About this ebook

Drabalicious is a collection of 25 short stories that you can read anywhere anytime, on the tube, riding on a bus or even in a car... as long as you are not driving! Most of these fictional fables are under 350 words, yea I might have crammed some longer ones in there, but that is just to keep your attention span at its utmost prime.

We start with the stories and then I will follow that with some of the reasoning behind what made such tales, some might not be what you first imagined them to be. With some of these stories, I have added some facts that I have found out along the way into doing some research for these small tales.

Well, I suppose this bit is all about me, well that is going to be boring and a rubbish ending for this unique book! I was born in Worksop in Nottinghamshire. Yes I’m a Robin Hood follower and a lover of the greatest super reds in the world, no not Liverpool or those other imposters like United, I’m a Tricky Tree, yes the mighty Nottingham Forest, are we still living in the past, I would like to think that those times might come back… someday. I love most sports and I have been quite successful as a Track & Field athlete, if not involved with any of the running variety. Then it would be the motorized stuff that gets the adrenaline rushing, from Stock car racing, rallying to even Truck racing, I have been lucky enough to sample these from close quarters. I was going to blast this section with a load of personal data… ZZzzz. All that is the need, for now, is that I love animals, especially Dogs & Cats (that would make a great film!) and that I am a gay father (that would make an even better film!)

    Tick, Tick… Boom!

Is this the end, whilst we count down from ten!

The clock ticks away and we are down to nine.

A fright awaits us as we pass eight.

Are we in a film directed by Craven now were past seven.

Will the Devil play his tricks when we read Six (six, six)?

We are lucky to be alive after passing Five.

The sweat starts to pour whilst clocking Four.

There is no guarantee it will stop at three.

Should I cut the Red wire or the Blue when ticking past two?

What happens now, passing one, still no wire cut... boom, and I am done.

    Gold

As I proudly stand upon this three-tiered step, I started to recollect back on how I had achieved this most memorable moment in my fledgeling athletic journey. Only in my most vivid and wildest of dreams would I have actually been able to take the gold medal from the clutches of the world’s fastest man, a man who had become a legend figure for running the 100 meters, but this was my time, this was the Rio Olympics.

I was a rank outsider, so much so that some thought I was very lucky to actually make the final, it surprised me as well! However, after two false starts, the odds were greatly reduced in my favour when the field went from eight to six runners. With an ear, busting bang from the starter's pistol the race started and I blast out from my blocks and get a flyer, rising up to the sprint heading the field, the finish line came up fast, I dip first to take the spoils, the glory was mine to savour.

The crowd must have been very noisy, on my part I could not tell, I was in a silent haze just looking around in shock until the legend came over to congratulate me. So after the massive adrenaline rush and time to contemplate on my achievement for my country, here I stand with my national anthem sounding out, playing proudly as my beautiful countries flag was being hoisted high, flying high, flying proudly.

    The Mirrored Room

Does everyone see what I can see ‘I thought’, as I sat looking out from my solitary room gazing through the windows of my eyes into the mad bad world outside, the world in which I lived? I wondered why that whenever I looked out of these windows, I can see this odd-looking stranger, just sat there, mimicking, whys he looking back at me.

    Who is that?

    What do they want?

My thoughts start to race; maybe they want what I have. Could they really want to just sit here and look out through these windows? On reflection, they would be mad to do so.

    The Monster Mash

Scooby, how long have we been stuck up here?

I do not know Shaggy, but it must be time for a Scooby snack

    No!

    Aargh

Oh stop your moaning and stop wagging that bloody tail!, you're making the chair rock and sway Its bad enough being stuck up, so high off the ground, never mind having to put up with your foolish antics... Now sit down! Why it’s even a mystery when this machine stopped?

I know, there was no warning, just a clang and a bang, then someone shouting Jinky's, then nothing

I wonder if the rest of the gang have made it up to the top?

I do not care, but they had better have kept to the dress code

    who's the party for anyway?

It is for the caretaker, Ya know... Old man Smithers

Oh, he gives me the creeps

Who do you think you are, a ghostbuster, well I'm not afraid of no ghosts!

    Listen, what’s that noise?

I don't know, sounds like it's coming from the next chair

Well whatever they are doing, I wish they would speed it up or stop!, Its starting to make my stomach churn

So still no to a Scooby snack then

"You and your stomach, it will get you into trouble one of these days, just
