About this ebook

“Pearls from the Heart” is a book that offers loving and compassionate guidance to living with greater consciousness. For times when life is difficult to manage, when anger, frustration, grief or fear overwhelm you to the point where you may find yourself powerless to act, this book offers shining pathways that will gently but firmly guide you out of confusion, reconnecting you with yourself and enabling you to embrace your life in a deeply accepting and loving way.

Sa Silvano offers insights and wisdom gained through the experiences and lessons of her own personal healing journey, as well as through her work of assisting many others. “Pearls from the Heart” is truly a guide to living consciously, and offers the reader many gifts of healing, transformation, inspiration and awakening.

“I can feel Sa’s heart in every page. This book emphasises how wonderful every bit of our life truly is, no matter how painful, messy or weird it can sometimes get. How we can turn a crisis or grief into an awakening and growth.
I see this book being used to set a positive frame of mind for the day and as beautiful reminders of inspiration to be in alignment with our own essence.”
Enza Vita – Publisher and editor of “InnerSelf Newspaper”, author of “Always Already Free”.

“The underlying feeling of Sa’s words is like a fragrance permeating the entire work. The power of this book is that delightful fragrance, that is Sa’s essence, her spiritual connection. There is so much depth of wisdom in this work, yet delivered in such a simple and delightful way.”
Azriel Re’Shel – Writer, co-author, journalist and producer

Introduction & how to read this book

Pearls from the Heart is an externalized expression of my inner self and my life’s journey. I offer this to you, dear reader, with my love and a heartfelt desire to serve you.

I consider this a book of healing because it is about my own journey of healing; it is about the lessons I have learned and about my moments of transcendence. I share with you the things that inspire me and touch my heart. I share also my medicine; the gifts I have received through overcoming my fears, accepting my challenges and allowing my growth.

I wake up some mornings remembering dreams in which I have been given knowledge through instruction. Some of these teaching dreams are a part of this book.

As you read, please allow yourself to feel the energy that is held here for you. Some of these pieces are a meditation. Let each piece take you on an experiential journey, as it did me. Feel it. Give it space, and give it time. Let the energy of the words penetrate deeply as a healing force.

If you do not understand something, allow that, and keep yourself open as you read, feeling the words as energy rather than something that is only connecting with your mind. Breathe in the healing intent of the words you read until you are full. Then stop and allow time to digest; integration is important. Give time and space for acceptance, healing, and balance.

Some of you have written to me seeking clarity or comfort or support. Some of my responses are in this book. You asked some important questions and you told me that the answers I gave you have helped you. I hope that in this sharing, others will also benefit.

I have removed your names and all details that might inadvertently identify you.

So thank you, if you are one of those who has – through your asking – facilitated the gift of Spirit to flow onto these pages.

You will find that I speak about certain subjects more than once and in different ways. Each time we read something, we are in a new moment, and quite possibly holding an alternate perspective. As a result that which we read, even if it is a repetition, may be perceived in a new way or absorbed by us at a deeper level.

Because of its nature, this book can be read in diverse ways.

You may wish to read it from beginning to end or by selecting from the titles in the index or perhaps from the table of affirmations at the back of this book.

Another way is to hold a specific intent in your heart or call for clarity and then open the book at random; trusting that what you set your eyes upon will be exactly what you need to know.

Beyond all time and space, and beyond all separation, we are One. At this level of deep connectedness, it means that even as you read these words, you and I are here together as One, sharing this timeless space of Now.

May these offerings fill you with light

and ease the sadness in your life

May they bring warmth to your heart

    and clarity to any confusion

May the simplicity of life’s true gifts

    bring joy to your spirit

    Sa Silvano - September 2013

    This Extraordinary Moment

    Here I sit

    in this body

    This sensual experience

    of air upon skin

    of breath warm and invisible

    of feet upon cool wood

Heart pulsing the rhythm of life

    All is quiet

    The world become still

    My thoughts no longer bleeding

    into the pristine landscape

    of this present moment

I open the door in the roof of my mind

    and the light streams in

    effervescent with bubbles of inspiration

    I breathe deeply

    and allow the flow

    to translate into words

    that tiptoe through my heart

    and trickle into

    fingertips dancing across the keyboard

    bringing this song to you

    Ego

Ego is a word that has been excessively used in psychological, spiritual and new age circles. Ego is like the poor fellow on the streets who gets blamed for everything bad that happens in the neighbourhood.

Ego makes us arrogant. Ego makes us aggressive. Ego makes us prideful. Ego makes us controlling. Ego makes us vain. Ego makes us judgemental. Ego makes us heartless. The ego seems to play the role of a scapegoat.

We go to extraordinary lengths in our efforts to be perceived as humble, non-judgemental and non-egoistic. So much so, that it can become uncomfortable to claim who we are and what we do because we are unclear whether that would be a form of self-aggrandisement. We lose the ability to simply be ourselves because we end up constantly judging every thought, word and action in avoidance of the dreaded ego.

This causes confusion and imbalance. On the one hand we want to be ourselves, on the other hand where does being ourselves and expressing who we are cross over into egoism?

This can create a pendulum behavioural effect whereby we swing from aggressively asserting ourselves and flaunting our accomplishments to hiding our achievements and subduing our presence just to appear humble and therefore more acceptable and desirable to be with.

If we develop an inner paranoia about ego, we will find life very confusing and painful. Not knowing how to be oneself with anyone could eventually lead to depression and withdrawal from everyone.

When I see someone touting themselves and can feel the underlying energy or charge, then I know that this thing many would term ego is at its essence fear in expression. Fear that if they do not display themselves, then they would not be seen and perhaps would therefore
