God Is in Love With You: - Valerie Love

Love.

Introduction

God is in love with you. God is head-over-heels, crazy in love with you. You may not believe or know this now, so my prayer for you is that you experience a radical shift into absolutely knowing and feeling God’s unconditional love. As mentioned earlier, we live in an orderly and ordered universe, which provides assurance that you will pick up this book and read exactly the parts you need in the moment. Open your heart so that the following words may find a home in you, and elicit transformation.

This book is not written for any particular religion. It is not a religious work, it is a spiritual work. It sets forth a simple and truth-filled idea that many of us grapple with: we are each and all unconditionally loved by God. And since we are each and all unconditionally loved by God, we are each and all lovable.

Allow this book to teach you not to rely on others for your sense of value or self-worth. You are inherently valuable—your worth is intrinsic, it was built in when God created you.

Allow this book to take you a step further into a new way of looking at God: as your lover. Certainly not as a romantic lover; God is not your romantic partner, and this book makes no assertions to that effect. The statement God is in love with you means God loves you unconditionally and fully, without reservation, hesitation, condemnation, deprivation, or expectation.

Reading this book requires only three things of you:

1. Openness—be open to what is stated here, be open to a new way of thinking and being.

2. Acceptance—be willing to accept what you read when and if it resonates with you.

3. Practice—practice infusing all you do with love, compassion, and kindness. This becomes easier and easier as you realize the unfathomable depths of God’s love, which dwells at the center of your being.

Thank you for reading this book, and may you know the love of God more fully and radiate it more beautifully to everyone in your world.

Namaste, Valerie Love

Love

But anyone who does not love does not know God—for God is love.

1 John 4:8 (NLT)

God is love; and he who dwells in love abides in God.

1 John 4:16 (NLT)

God is love. God is love.

The first time I read this passage of scripture must have been more than thirty years ago, and I’ve read it hundreds of times since. I must confess, my tiny human mind still doesn’t fully understand it. It is beyond my thinking faculty to fathom how God could be love.

There are concepts we don’t understand from a purely mental stance that we have little problem understanding from the spiritual perspective. We are human and spiritual beings at once, and capable of ascertaining spiritual truths that stump the human mind. The feeling we get inside speaks for itself. When we read the passage of scripture that states, God is love, we may not fully grasp it on an intellectual level and, thankfully, we don’t have to. Something deep within us understands it and, more than that, knows it to be true.

Your life may not appear to be a shining example of the truth that God is love. You may have experienced horrific circumstances or situations. You may be living in pain right now. All I ask is for you to read on and take one step at a time. Remember, God is love. You know this already deep within; you were born knowing it.

Operate today from the powerful position of knowing God as love within you. This Love has always been there, right at your core. God loves you so much and is willing to do anything to get your attention, so that you may come to learn the truth of who God is in you and the truth of who you are. You may be stripped of possessions, or people, or jobs, or good health. None of it matters. All such things are transitory and migratory. People and things transition in and out of our lives spontaneously—accept this and live happy. Some people migrate out of our lives and find their way back again—accept this too and live happy. It is not strange or unusual for you to experience pain, loss, and suffering; every human being on the surface of the earth has experienced or will experience all these and more.

The most important concept to remember today is that God is always with you, in you, and surrounding you. You are always and continuously enveloped in Love. You are never alone. Unlike people, it is not possible for God to transition out of your life or to migrate away from you.

Read this affirmation slowly and repeatedly:

Any experience you have in which you are tempted to believe God is not present is simply an invitation for you to open yourself to Love and to experience how close God truly is, in that moment, even in the midst of what seems to be an ungodlike situation. The more unlike God your situation is, the greater your opportunity to learn, grow, and transform.

This is the eternal challenge of our human nature: to see what is not visible to human eyes. To see God even when everything around us looks to be the opposite of God. To see peace where there seems to be no peace. To see love where there seems to be no love. To see compassion and kindness where neither seems to be. When you begin to understand what is happening in your life and why, and that every challenge is a gift—another chance to see God in action—you’ll begin to know God is always with you, in you, and surrounding you.

God is love.

Thoughts for Today

God is love.

God is love in me.

I know God’s love is within me, surrounding me, and working through me.

God’s love enfolds, envelops, and enlivens me.

I am the love of God made manifest. I see love and compassion where there seem to be none.

I am compassion.

I am love.

Amen.

Omnipresence

The Lord is with me, I will not be afraid ...

Psalms 118:6 (GNT)

I look above me, below me, around me, within me, and all I see is God. God is all there is.

John Randolph Price, Practical Spirituality

There ain’t a place God ain’t. God is in the crack house. God is in the whorehouse. God is in the jailhouse. God is in the outhouse. There ain’t a place God ain’t. God is in the morgue. God is in the funeral home. God is at the cemetery.

There ain’t a place God ain’t.

God is in the operating room.

God is in the neonatal intensive care unit.

God is in the intensive care unit.

There ain’t a place God ain’t.

God is in the bum on the street.

God is in the hooker.

God is in the drug addict.

There ain’t a place God ain’t.

God is in the murderer.

God is on death row.

God is in the electric chair.

There ain’t a place God ain’t.

God is in you.

You are a living, moving, breathing expression of God. Act like it. Act like you know God is within you. Own up to your true identity as a divine being who is powerfully creative. Act like you know who you are. Act in accordance with your divine nature.

The beauty about God being everywhere is that God is with you and in you everywhere you go, and can touch your heart at any moment. God is not afraid of the crack house or the jailhouse. God is not tempted at the whorehouse. God is anywhere you are, wherever that may be.

We have been taught to believe that God is not in certain places; that some places are not holy and therefore cannot welcome the presence of God.

While it is true that some places seem holier than others, it is also true that God is everywhere, in all, through all, surrounding all. When you go to a church or temple or mosque, you may be able to feel God’s presence immediately upon entering.

Does this mean that God is in some places and not others? No.

The difference between the mosque or temple or church and the whorehouse is that the former are open to God’s presence, recognize it, acknowledge it, and act accordingly whereas in the latter, God’s presence has not been acknowledged, and the people there act out of harmony with God’s presence and their own divine nature.

Just because God’s presence is ignored doesn’t mean it isn’t there. You can ignore gravity by jumping off a building—that doesn’t make gravity go away. You can ignore a warning that fire is hot by putting your hand in it—you’ll still be burned.

Some of us are aware of God’s presence within us. We acknowledge it and act in accord with our divine nature, which causes life to proceed well.

Some ignore God’s presence in their lives and act out of accord with their own divine nature, and life becomes full of pain, worry, fear, and suffering.

You have a choice.

You can move forward in the world with the awareness that God is present everywhere you are, and act in accord with that awareness. As a result, your life will begin to reflect awareness of God’s presence by becoming more peaceful, purposeful, joyful, fulfilled, inspired, loving, and compassionate.

You can act without awareness of God’s presence and reap the consequences that come from ignoring God.

Ignoring God doesn’t make God go away.

Not believing in God doesn’t make God any less present.

That is one of the many beauties of the universe: God is present everywhere, at all times. You can’t leave home without God.

Today, no matter where you find yourself throughout the day, make the conscious decision to act as if you remember and know that God is right where you are, in each and every instant. Make the choice to move today with God as your guide. Make the choice to listen quietly for God’s guidance from within your soul when faced with decisions or perplexities.

Know that God is with you, in you, surrounding you, and seeks to express as you always and in all ways.

As you do, you’ll see that each day holds a miracle waiting to unfold, just for you.

God is right where you are.

Thoughts for Today

Today I am aware that God is right where I am.

I know and feel God’s presence within me in every place, situation, and circumstance.

I act in harmonious accord with my divine nature.

I feel the loving presence of my Creator wherever I go.

I am ever present to God’s love.

I am thankful God is right where I am.

Perfect

So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Genesis 1:27 (AMP)

And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good and He approved it completely.

Genesis 1:31 (AMP)

God created you in unimaginable love. And after you were formed, God called you exceedingly beautiful. God called the new creation, humans, very good. You are approved of fully and completely.

The question is: Do you approve of yourself fully and completely?

God brought you into existence to become manifest in an entirely new and different way than ever before. God created you by bringing into existence an individual who was completely new, someone the world had never seen before, and would never see again. God desired to create someone who would serve a very unique purpose here; someone who would fill a unique position in the scheme of all creation.

That unique someone is YOU.

Yes, God’s great and limitless imagination went to work on a blank canvas conjuring up greatness. You became the masterpiece God created.

When you were fashioned, God thought of what kind of person you would be, what you would do for the world, and what you would look like. No detail was left unplanned, including your beautiful hair and eyes, with their perfect texture and color. Love gave you a body that would serve you well for the purpose you were called into human existence to fulfill. You received the perfect skin color and body size and shape to make manifest your Creator on earth in a completely new and different way.

Contrary to what you may have been told, or conditioned to believe:

You are the perfect size.

Your butt is not too big.

Your nose is not too long.

Your penis is the perfect size.

Your boobs are just perfect for you.

Your hair is the right color and texture.

Your wrinkles make you look wise.

You’re not too fat or too skinny.

Your gray hair is distinctive.

Your skin is the perfect color.

Your eyes are amazing windows to your soul.

You are perfect just the way you are.

You are perfect just the way you are.

If you’re like me, this may be a difficult concept to wrap your mind around, but you must if you are to live God’s purpose for your life. I’ve been told that my nose is too big for my face. I’ve been told that my size-eleven-wide feet are enormous for a woman of my stature. I’ve been told, subliminally and overtly, so many negative notions about my body that one book does not suffice to put it all in writing.

You’ve probably been told quite a few unflattering things about the way you look as well, or you may have picked up some bizarre ideas of what beauty is from your environment or culture. The truthfulness of these ideas of beauty or handsomeness usually go unquestioned; we accept them as fact. The truth is: all the beauty or handsomeness in the world that you need to know about is staring right back at you every time you look in the mirror. From this day forward, there’s no reason for you to believe in anyone else’s standard of what’s beautiful, especially if that standard conflicts with what you look like.

Even when what we look like does not fit our idea of what we want to look like, we are still perfect, just the way we are right now. Perfect lessons are unfolding. Learn them well. Then move on.

Furthermore, if there are aspects of your appearance you don’t like, and that are within your control to change, by all means, make healthy changes that support you. These healthy changes may include a more nutritious diet, taking vitamins or minerals, drinking more water, exercising more often, or thinking more healthful thoughts. Improving the health and functioning of your body is a way to show honor and appreciation for the magnificent human temple you presently inhabit.

However, our society has become obsessed with changing appearances to conform to some strange idea of beauty, causing the cosmetic surgery industry to boom. Folks want bigger breasts, butt implants, smaller noses, higher cheekbones, flatter tummies, tighter skin, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. That game can go on and on—we may even know or have heard of folks who have had surgery after surgery and still aren’t happy with their appearance. When does it end? When do we look in the mirror and say to ourselves emphatically:

I am perfect just the way I am right now! God made me perfect!

All success in improving our lives begins with one critical element: self-love. If we cannot love and accept ourselves at this very moment, whatever we look like, how can we love ourselves to the place where we would like to be?

Self-love is not a luxury—it’s a necessity for healthful living.

So, if no one has ever told you before, let me be the first to say to you:

You’re perfect just the way you are!

I don’t need to know what you look like to be able to make this affirmation concerning you. What you look like on the outside is simply the clothing God wrapped your soul in when you came here. Always remember God wrapped your soul in the perfect shell when you were born, regardless of what that shell looks like; everything God does has purpose and design. We have placed so much value on (or have devalued) what we look like, that we’ve forgotten our appearance has nothing to do with who we really are: magnificent, unique, one-of-a-kind creations of an all-loving God.

Your value doesn’t come from what you look like.

With that said, because Love created you as a unique, one-of-a-kind, artistic expression, you are inherently valuable. After all, Picasso, Rembrandt, and others have created one-of-a-kind artistic expressions of their own design, some of which are worth millions. Are you not more valuable than a painting on canvas?

A wise man once said that God feeds the birds of heaven and clothes the lilies of the field in beautiful adornment. If God would go to such great lengths to feed wild birds and adorn wild flowers, how much more would Love do for you?

It is necessary to your growth that you begin understanding your intrinsic value. You’re valuable just because you’re here. God made you and you have a right to be here and to be the embodiment of perfection God created you to be. There are no accidents; therefore, you could not have been an accident, regardless of what you may have been told. Every one of us, including you, is a unique, perfect, intentional, one-of-a-kind designer original by God Almighty. This is true whether your natural parents welcomed your birth or not.

You must grow to understand that you are a unique treasure made by God’s own creative hand. Just as an artist expresses herself through her work, God is expressing through you. The book of Genesis says that God called the new creation—humans—very good. When God created you, all heavenly creation rejoiced.

Thoughts for Today

Today I know and honor myself as a one-of-a-kind, unique expression of God’s love.

God is love and because I am made in the image and likeness of the Creator, I am love.

I am perfect, just the way I am, in this very moment.

My value doesn’t come from how I look, or what I wear, or how I speak, or where I live or work, or from anything I’ve done.

My value is inherent and intrinsic.

I am valuable because I am.

I am a love child.

I am priceless.

Purpose

Many plans are in a man’s mind, but it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand.

Proverbs 19:21 (AMP)

I want to say without hesitation that the purpose of our life is happiness.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Not only were you called forth in unimaginable love, but God had a specific reason for doing so. You are here to participate in a four-part purpose:

Part 1: You are here to be. Consider this: at this very moment, there’s nothing you have to do. You are a human being, not a human doing. To be means we understand deep within our core that we are enough, just as we are right now. As we’ve already seen, we are perfect, magnificent creations of a perfect Creator.

What does that mean? It means you’re not here to fulfill anyone else’s expectations, demands, requests, solicitations, goals, ambitions, hopes, or dreams.

You are here to be the fullest expression of who God created you to be. That’s it. Simply be.

What does it mean to simply be? At one time you knew what this meant, but since you may have forgotten, find a small infant to observe. They are the best examples I can think of to illustrate the concept of being. The happiest people on earth are babies because they instinctively know they have no job to do, no function to fulfill, no responsibilities to see to, no expectations to live up to, no requirements to meet. When you were a baby, there was no pressure on you to do anything. No one expects a baby to do anything but lay there and be cute. Babies are happy in the skin they’re in, just enjoying life. Simply being. They resonate with this powerful truth because they’re unadulterated in their connection to the Source from whence they’ve just emerged, from the world of Spirit, from God’s very bosom.

A critical first step in experiencing true fulfillment and happiness in living your purpose is to resonate with this simple truth, just as a baby does: we are human beings. God didn’t give you a to-do list when you emerged from your mother’s womb. When you were born, God didn’t put an in-box beside you.

I must warn you: this path is simple, yet far from easy. Learning who you really are and knowing it is enough may be one of the most challenging principles you learn to master.

Sit still for a moment. Do nothing. Let this simple truth sink in: before you do anything, master learning how to simply be.

Understand this: no more is required of you other than being the best person you can be in each God-given moment. When we internalize the principle of being, rather than doing, we enter bliss. If we sit in stillness and give no heed to anything or anyone else, we will have found one of the most elusive jewels men search for: perfection. Perfection is elusive because we search for it externally, when it actually resides within each one of us. A Course in Miracles accurately states:

"There is a place in you where there is perfect peace. There is a place in you where nothing is impossible. There is a place in you where the strength of God abides.

The only way to find that perfect place inside of you is to just be. You won’t find that perfect inner stillness by running around, going here and there, rushing this way and that. You only find that perfect place when you sit in the stillness and decide to just be. Develop a practice of sitting in stillness and silence and doing nothing. Just be. God created a special day for us to just be—it s called the Sabbath. It is a holy day of rest and relaxation, a day to practice doing nothing. It is the delicious pause that your mind and body need to connect with your Love within.

There is a positive side effect, among many, of learning to just be. You will no longer give more consideration to what other people think of you than you do to your own inner voice of wisdom (more on this in a later chapter). This is quite liberating, because listening to our inner voice of wisdom informs us that the answer to every question lies within ourselves, and the infinite wellspring of wisdom each of us searches for actually resides in our core.

Part 2: You are here to be happy. If you haven’t noticed, God is pretty happy. If you’ll gaze at your life and surroundings, you’ll probably find evidence of God’s sense of humor. Animals, plants, and humans are quite funny, and may even be funny looking.

God wants you to be happy, joyful, and fulfilled. It is our natural state to be happy and to want happiness for every person we love. There is a natural slant in the Universe toward happiness, a natural bias for joy. Your default setting is happiness and well-being.

Why, then, if it is our natural state to be happy, are most of us so unhappy?

The reason for the rampant, widespread dissatisfaction and unhappiness with life that most people experience is connected to what was stated earlier in this book: not realizing who God is and who we really are. If we fully accept and know God as Love within us and working through us, and that we are unconditionally loved, and that we are perfect and whole,
