CHAPTER ONE
They use mass media communication to advertise their products or services. Billions of people spend more than two hours a day watching television, browsing the internet, listening to radio stations, chatting on facebook, snap chart, tidal, and twitting on twitter. They use these platforms for information gathering, entertainment, trade and commerce, gaming and betting, dating, long- distance learning, and video communication.
What is media?
Media refers to platforms that aid effective and faster communication between the sender of the communication and the receiver of the communication. My definition of media is simplistic in order to give the reader a comprehensible understanding of this topic. There are several types of media in the world but I would love us to dwell on mass media communication because it is the most effective form of communication. Mass media communication is a form of communication in which the sender of the communication sends his or her communication to an unidentifiable number of receivers, normally large numbers of people in a very short period of time without the original information or data being altered or varied.
Benefits of mass media communication
Television. Television as a form of mass media communication and is the most recommended platform to broadcast your goods or services to large numbers of people. The rationale is that the intended consumers are able to see your products or services with their naked eyes and make informed choices based on your level of branding or packaging. The other reason is that billions people own television sets in their homes.
Radio. Throughout the world, radio communication has proven to be reliable and affordable to both advertisers and consumers because radio waves cover almost the entire world including remote areas where network signals are not accessible. However, radio communication incapacitates the receiver of the communication from visualizing the said goods or services being advertised.
The internet. The internet refers to an international network of computers enabling them to share data or information interchangeably. Due to technological advancements and science, billions of people in the world have access to smart phones and other electronic gadgets for communication. Retailers like Amazon, Google, Apple, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and eBay have developed user friendly platforms to enable their
