CHAPTER ONE
The Trip:
(Dawn phone rings)
One afternoon, as I was speaking to my friend Jennifer on the phone about a party she was about to have, What about Mike and Stacy she asked. Are you going to bring them to the party with you?
I then realized, I had not spoken to them in about three weeks. They had plans to go away to Texas but, that was only supposed to last a week and a half. I then told Jennifer I haven't spoken to them.
I told her how long they've been gone and that's when Jennifer came up with this idea of trying to locate them in Texas. Jennifer said Why don't you call him? I just want to see how they are doing.
I told Jennifer, I will call you back in a sec.
Jennifer hung up the phone and I proceeded to call Mike. Hmmmmmm. No answer. I waited another half an hour and called again. There was no answer. So I left a message on Mike's phone. Hey Mike. Haven't spoken to you in a while. Hope everything's ok. Give me a call. Tell Stacy I said hi.
Now, I am worried. I hurriedly called Jennifer back and told her what happened. Jennifer then said, if you're that worried, why don't you go to Texas and try to find him?
Nah . . .. I'm sure he's ok I said. Just probably busy. Alright Jennifer, I'll talk to you later. Later Dawn. As I got off the phone, I began to wonder. Where the hell are you Mike? Why didn't he answer my phone calls. This is not like him. I feel something is wrong. I have plenty of vacation time saved up. Maybe I will take that trip. Yes . . . . I'm going to Texas. I hurriedly called Jennifer back and told her my plans. Jennifer then said she would come along. I'm not doing anything right now. I'll take that trip with you. Let me check my bank account. I hope I have enough money.
Well check and let me know. Ok Dawn. Jennifer called Dawn back and said . . . . I lost my job and I need to free my mind. I have enough money in my account so I'm coming with you. Are you sure Jennifer? I asked. I'm sure Dawn. What about your party?
The hell with the party. Texas . . . here I come! Can I bring a friend? Yeah. Sure. Who?
I was thinking Crissy. Oh . . . No . . . Jennifer. Your not serious are you?
She's alright. She is a bit dizzy but she is a lot of fun. She would want to come. I just hope you know what your doing Jennifer. It'll be fine. Let me call her and I will call you back. Alright girl. Hope you're sure about this Jenn. I'm sure girl. Talk to you later. Later Jenn. Just as Dawn was packing her bags, Jennifer called. Her friend Crissy who is joining them on this trip decided to bring another friend along for the ride. A guy named David. She always liked David. David never showed any interest in Crissy. The four of them were now travelling on the plane to Texas. When they finally arrived in Texas, they bumped into one of the friends Dawn was looking for. Mike! Dawn yelled his name.
MIKE!" OMG. What happened to you guys? We all decided to come on this trip to look for you and Stacy. I called you and the phone calls went straight to voice mail. Mike then said . . . I left Texas early because of my father and now I am back. I have been trying to locate them too. Them? Who is them? It was me, Stacy, Matt and Barbara. Really? (Dawn had that confused look on her face). I've been searching for them for two days now. Re-tracing everywhere we went and I still haven't a clue as to where they would be. I thought they would be back in New York by now. That was two weeks ago. This was only supposed to be a trip for a week. I'm so worried. I haven't been able to reach any of them.
We should go back to the last place they were staying said Dawn. I'm almost sure, they would be there. Do you still have the address? You know . . . The address where you guys stayed? I just got off the phone with my dad, said Mike. He just gave me the address. How weird is that? Here it is. Mike pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket with the address on it. I don't remember how we got there. Wait a minute, Mike said. Mike remembered they used a navigator. We used a navigator to get there. We rented a car from a car rental place. Maspeth rent-a-car. It came with a navigator. Crissy interrupted and said . . . Well . . . What are we waiting for? Road trip! Let's
