    25 years ago, I started writing poetry when bits and pieces of flashbacks began to emerge from being sexually abused. I tried to piece together what had happened to me, but I blocked out a lot of what had occurred. I could not process the pain and trauma, and I could not speak about it. Writing these poems was my form of expression.
