Description
Forgiveness is essential to living a peaceful life. When you hold on to unforgiveness, not only is it a poison you are voluntarily drinking every time you link of it, it is holding you in a type of prison in which you are the only prisoner! Forgiveness is for you! It is not the same as condoning what was done. Leisa talks to us about her painful past and how she used meditation to find forgiveness and peace. She walks us through a guided meditation on forgiveness that you can download and listen to as a way of finding the peace of forgiveness in your own life. You can download the MP3 of the guided meditation here: ForgivenessMeditation.mp3

Show outline:
What started out as a 10-minute phone call turned into an amazing 1.5-hour conversation and I knew I had to share Leisa and her story with you!
Our paths were destined to cross!
Leisa turned inward to discover the true, authentic Leisa
Her father was murdered and started her inward journey
She tried to manufacture happiness by pursuing material, external, egoic experiences
She struggled with guilt over her father's murder, thinking she could have prevented it
Leisa studied the teachings of Buddha to make sense of this death and the chaos of her mind.
Learned meditation to calm/control her mind
Claimed responsibility for her thoughts/actions
We live in a paradox of predestination and personal responsibility for creating our lives
We all live in a story that we are writing
Friends and family didn't understand the shift in her thinking/behavior, so she had to let go of many unhealthy relationships
"Instead of blaming everyone else for what was going on, I started looking inside of me to see what was causing my thoughts/behaviors"
"I had a victim mentality that was hurting me and my relationship with others."
In December 2013, she was in a doctors office when a man came in with a gun and shot several people.
He said to her "you may want to leave now." Then began his rampage.
In the midst of his own rage, he showed compassion and mercy
Leisa suffered from PTSD after this event
She knew she had to learn and engage in a forgiveness practice for this man in order to move through it.
We hold unforgiveness bottled up inside us and it poisons us.
"Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die." - Buddha
We drink poison whenever someone does something bad to us.
Leisa talks us through a guided forgiveness meditation
