    THAT TEARFUL NIGHT

I t was Saturday morning and the sun was out, for a change, we got up and I started to do our breakfast. Jennifer said what are we going to do today mum?, we don’t see the sun much, at the moment, can we make the most of it, and take Lauren out somewhere, in her pram for a walk.? I said that’s a good idea, let us finish breakfast first, and then we will think of something to do, but first I am going to bath Lauren, after I have fed her, you can go and get dressed to while I am sorting out Lauren, she looked at me and said can I help you to bath Lauren today because I am at school and can’t help you during the week? You hold her then, while I go and fill the bath up for her and get her clothes ready, I left the room, and I heard Jennifer talking to Lauren, saying how much she loves her, and is going to be, the best big sister to her throughout her life, and look after her with her mummy, I thought how sweet of her, she normally, is always out playing with her friends, when she isn’t at school, maybe the novelty will wore off soon. I brought the bath into the lounge and started to undress Lauren, ready for her bath Jennifer put the baby-bath in and started swishing the water to make the bubbles appear, I placed Lauren into the bath and asked Jennifer to move back a bit, because Lauren loves her bath and starts kicking a lot, you will get wet quite a lot I said, she said it doesn’t matter it will soon dry, and she found a little yellow plastic duck and put it into the bath. I said Lauren is to small to play with that, she said I can play with it, and Lauren can watch the duck"

After she was bathed, I took her out to dry her, and get her dressed so she doesn’t get cold, Jennifer helped me by passing the clothes to me, and she put her socks and trousers on, she wanted to be in, by helping me, but I didn’t mind. I then placed Lauren into her bouncy chair and went into the kitchen, to empty the bath water, and bring Lauren her 2 different types of medication that she was taking. Lauren didn’t like one of them it tasted of salt water and she started to spit it out at me, Jennifer was laughing, so I gave Lauren what was left in the syringe, then went to the kitchen to make a cup of tea, then came back into the lounge and said to Jennifer Right Lauren is ready, what do you want to do today then? She said can we take her round town, into the shops, and get her some more clothes, because Lauren it a premature baby, so I was buying special clothes for her weight, the clothes for new-born use to bury her. I said yes we can do that, we will have to set off soon, it will be packed in town and parking is awkward then, and I don’t want to be driving all over the place looking for a space, I folded Lauren’s pram up, and went to put it into the car-boot, and came back, Jennifer was standing in the hallway with her shoes on, and had brought Lauren in her car seat I checked that she had put her in properly, and went out to the car and fastened her into the back seat, Jennifer sat in the back while I was driving into town she was talking to Lauren all the way there, about the traffic, and what we were passing on the roads, and what animals were in the fields. We arrived in town and went into the shops and bought some clothes up-to 10pounds in weight as she was in 7.5lbs at the moment, and they were fitting her but they won’t be doing much longer, I got Jennifer some clothes as well, Lauren was asleep in her pram now, and Jennifer wanted to have a turn at pushing her, I said to Jennifer, I will put the hood down a little, so you will be able to see over the top of it, you can’t go knocking into people with it, We had some lunch, before Lauren woke up, for her feed. Jennifer said are we going home now, that you have spent all your money? I said yes we can do then Lauren woke up, as we got to the car, I fed her in the car and then we made our way out of the car park, onto the main road to drive home. Jennifer was telling Lauren what we had bought her, and that she would look like a princess in the dresses.

The sun was still out and I thought It’s to nice to go home now, shall we make the most of the sun. I then turned off the road into another direction, and thought I will take them to the park Jennifer can play on the swings and other stuff then we can go for the walk around the part where the animals are. As we approached the park, Jennifer released where we were and said can we go and see the animals

I got the pram out and put Lauren in she was looking around, they were lots of children so it was rather noisy with laughter and shouting. We walked towards the ice-cream van, and got an ice-cream each, and then sat on the nearby bench, so I could eat mine, Then we had a walk around everything, after a couple of hours the sun had gone in and it was starting to get chilly, so we headed for the car, and went home, ready for tea time

I fed Lauren again and she was a bit crabby now, and pulling her knees up towards her tummy. Jennifer asked what was wrong with Lauren? I said she has got a bit of tummy ache, and I started to rub her tummy, she was straining to fill her nappy, but nothing was happening apart from her going bright red in the face. she had problems with her bowels, so this often happened. I said to Jennifer "if she hasn’t been today I will help her by giving her an enema which the doctor had now also prescribed her. About an hour later Lauren settled and went to sleep, as I was driving home. I went into the kitchen and started making some tea for us and my partner had come at this point to, he didn’t live with me, so he wasn’t there to help me with Lauren much.

I had made tea and we were watching the television together Stacey and David came home for their teas as well, Jennifer was showing them both the clothes that we picked out for Lauren and said how small they were and expensive, when they saw the price tags. I commented to them that "premature clothes are more expensive, then normal baby clothes are, but hopefully
